Paul Wall and Slim Thug

Ladies and gentleman, presenting tonight's performers: In one corner, we have the pride of Houston's Jersey Village High School, "The People's Champ," the king of grills — Paul Wall. In the other corner, we have Houston's own "Boss of All Bosses," one half of the Boyz N Blue, the Boss Hogg: Slim Thug. Both rappers are slated for 12 rounds, slugging it out over their trademark dirty South Houston beats, going back and forth on who is the true boss — the real champ — of the Houston rap scene. That particular scene (quite a prolific collective of MC's and rappers) was put on the map in 1986 when Rap-A-Lot Records was founded, helping launch the careers of such Houston acts as Geto Boys, Raheem, Scarface, and Devin the Dude. Paul Wall and Slim Thug have taken the Houston scene to new levels in the 2000s, showcasing the staggering amount of talent throughout the city. Like the true bosses they are, Paul Wall and Slim Thug bring that Houston style — that cocky, "fuck you, I'm the Boss" swagger — that keeps the Houston scene on top as one of the most productive and respected in the rap game.
