If you’re a hardcore gamer, chances are you woulda loved to have attended the annual E3 in Los Angeles, which is widely considered the absolute Mecca for joystick Jedi everywhere. Too bad it’s an invite-only affair and your sorry ass wasn’t on the guest list. Here’s the next best thing, however: this weekend’s Devastation 2009 gaming event and expo. The three-day extravaganza will feature dozens of tournaments and competitions involving a slew of titles (including Street Fighter IV, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Call of Duty: World at War, Madden NFL 09, and many more). Upward of $10,000 in cash and prizes will be at stake, and raffles for some serious swag (such as figurines and controllers), free arcade game play, and other fun is also scheduled.
