Divine Trash

One artist’s junk is the same artist’s art

More About

We’ll never forget the time our college art professor sent us Dumpster-diving for supplies. Two cracked frames, a dozen food wrappers, and a moldy banana peel later, we had a piece of art that looked (and smelled) like a trash can. Somehow, local artist Angela Cazel Jahn doesn’t suffer from the same problem. “I retreat to my studio and take up leftover construction materials like drywall and house paint, found objects, junk that sparkles, obsolete books, X-Acto knives, and little bits of paper,” says Cazel Jahn. Her Dumpster finds are transformed into snazzy, resin-coated collages.
