Too much space is the Achilles’ heel of the Phoenix club scene. Those cavernous clubs uncomfortably resemble our daytime lives that are dominated by wide roads and ranch homes. Come nighttime, we want max cramming for max hookup potential. That’s why Luis Gutierrez, the man behind HipJoint, was wise to pick The Paisley Violin for the post-millennial resurrection of his ’90s shindig.
At 8 p.m. Saturday, July 11, internationally known DJ Pari – who has traveled to the hottest clubs of the world, spinning vintage soul and boogaloo – returns to spin ultra-rare funk 45s in the teeny café/bar.
