Upside Story

D-Backs’ Dan Haren, Cardinals’ DRC meet the fans

They may not be the best-known athletes in Arizona, but Diamondbacks pitcher Dan Haren and Cardinals cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie have a ton of upside. This fact is not lost on the folks behind the latest Phoenix Sports Card Show, who’ve picked Haren and DRC to meet the fans and sign autographs.

Haren, who was snagged from Oakland to become the D-Backs’ second starter, has become the franchise’s ace by default with the shoulder tribulations of Brandon Webb. Haren’s been at or near the top of the National League stat leaders all year in strikeouts and earned-run average. Rodgers-Cromartie, a big-time small-school pickup from Tennessee State, slipped into the starting secondary for the Redbirds last year during their Super Bowl run and seemingly cemented the spot for years to come with his blazing speed and blossoming coverage skills.

Haren will sign any item for $35 each, DRC for $20. D-Backs infielder/role player Ryan Roberts will also be signing for $10 a pop.
