While the Cleveland-based Thugs employed slower-paced summer soundtracks with an almost doom-metal sensibility, the Los Angeles Latinos of Cypress Hill offered equally friendly, G-funk grooves to toke to. More than a decade later, a couple of previous members of those groups – Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs and B-Real of Cypress Hill – remain active in their solo projects, cranking out head-nodding spits, beats, and hooks, which is wonderful news for the gettin’-high dudes/dudettes of the 2000s.

On Saturday, July 25, the Unite the Mic Tour – which features Bizzy, B-Real, Rap + Pillage, Townboyz, Phoenix VIP, and Vendetta Kings – will crunk out Venue of Scottsdale.
