God, are we sick to friggin’ death of watching celebs and regular schmoes tip the scales on reality weight-loss shows like The Biggest Loser and DietTribe. This is America, land of the lard-ass and the free, and our national verve seems to be going the way of our fatty acids. The wrong way. If you’re looking for a reality show that’s as American as a snout full of Frank’s RedHot, check out Native New Yorker’s Battle of the Bone 2009, a weekly amateur chicken-wing-consuming contest in which contestants vie to see who can gnaw the most wing meat in “10 minutes and 60 seconds.” (Now that’s America, right down to the beetle-browed math. Beautiful!) Registration is required. The finals are in October.
Wed., July 29, 7 p.m., 2009
