The Motor City is the site of the three-day Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Meanwhile, Miami holds the ginormous Ultra Music Festival during the annual Winter Music Conference. And jolly old England hosts a half-dozen turntablist throwdowns, including the Global Gathering and Creamfields. Could The Big Event at Firebird Lake, 20000 South Maricopa Road in Chandler, on Saturday, July 25, become the Valley's version of said international EDM extravaganzas? Its organizers are certainly pulling out all the stops and have booked a slew of big names for headlining gigs at the all-night outdoor event, including DJ Dan, Dieselboy, DJ Irene, and Wolfgang Gartner. They're also planning five stages, huge waterslides, beer gardens, and other madcap musical fun. Gates open at 7 p.m. and admission ranges from $20 to $40.
