Valley bluesman Bob Corritore is a self-contained synergistic event. He performs. He produces. He owns the live-music venue where he and his recording partner will hold their latest CD release party. He hosts the local blues radio show that will promote said CD. Short of taking over as managing editor of Living Blues Magazine, Corritore could not make himself any more indispensable to the regional blues scene. On Lucky to Be Living, his second full-length collaboration with guitarist-vocalist Dave Riley, the owner of the Rhythm Room and host of Those Lowdown Blues on KJZZ 91.5 FM (Sundays 6 to 11 p.m.) continues his love affair with the art form that first compelled him to pick up a Hohner harmonica during his schoolboy days in Chicago. Promising more of the Delta- and Chicago-inspired musicianship that informed the duo's Travelin' the Dirt Road LP (2007), the new album will be unveiled at a CD release party at the Rhythm Room that will feature an extended set by Riley and Corritore and smoked edibles from Rack Shack Barbeque. It's the closest you'll get to a real juke joint without the gambling and knife-fights and stuff.
