Award-winning builder discusses new Deer Valley design

Although its title suggests that architect Will Bruder has either branched out into science fiction or has flipped his award-winning lid, “Will Bruder: Notes on Making a Time Machine” is in fact a lecture about architecture, not time travel. Specifically, it’s about Bruder’s keen design for the Deer Valley Rock Art Center, which the architectural genius has constructed on a nature preserve and over a spillway.

More About

The center, which employs Bruder’s typical form-specific-to-function model and creative use of materials and light, has the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs in the Valley. Visitors to the center can hike a quarter-mile trail to view more than 1,500 of these petroglyphs, made between 800 and 5,000 years ago.

Bruder will speak about making the petroglyphs architecturally relevant to the center’s site from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 19.
