One thing you can say about the Arizona Derby Dames – their ambition is as ample as their skirts are short.

As the roller girls close the season – their first at cavernous Veterans’ Memorial Coliseum, the “Madhouse on McDowell” – with a championship bout pitting the 2008 champs, the Runaway Brides, against the 2006/07 victors, the Brutal Beauties, they’ll also be announcing the date and locale of their 2010 season opener, which will feature a state-of-the-art banked track. (Like we always say, “It’s better on a slant.”)

A just-for-kicks exhibition featuring members of the other league teams (dressed as either rockers or hip-hoppers) launches the evening with the league’s final flat-track blowout following.

A free post-party follows at George & Dragon English Restaurant & Pub, 4240 North Central Avenue.
