Peoria shindig features 33 straight hours of EDM and enlightenment

It is written in the sacred tenets of Buddhism that generosity is one of the paths to true enlightenment. If so, the promoters of this weekend’s Earthdance festival have a shot at Nirvana, since they’re providing local music heads 33 straight hours of EDM, entertainment, and enlightenment. Buddhist teachings will mix with boffo beats, soulful music, and plenty of PLUR during the outdoor fest taking place at Cowtown, AZ.

Earthdance kicks off at 9 p.m. Friday, September 25, with more than two dozen DJs (including such headliners as SoCal’s Dyloot and Germany’s Teddy Graham) spinning everything from happy hardcore to progressive trance. Be sure to gulp down some Monsters as the honorable ZaChoeje Rinpoche conducts teachings and blessings starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, followed by a full slate of rock and reggae from bands like The Crush and Purple Kush, as well as even more DJs working the decks into the wee hours. Yoga sessions, bellydancing, and a gypsy carnival are also scheduled.

Fri., Sept. 25, 9 p.m., 2009
