Like his spiritual kin, Phoenix's own Jon Borette, Brian Kappel makes quirky robot art. The works by the Portland artist, however, tend to be a wee bit more warm and cuddly than Borette's, who's art comes across like the etchings of a toddler bent on enslaving the world via his mechanical minions. While Kappel's works are still semi-sinister, the title of one of his recent shows in his hometown tells all about his worldview: "Robots, or How to Make Technology Cute Again."
Mondays-Fridays. Starts: Oct. 5. Continues through Oct. 30, 2009
