The Bookworm TurnsHome-schooled nerd hits big with whimsical alt-popBy Adriane GoetzPublished on November 11, 2009 at 4:01amMaking fun of home-schooled kids used to be funny. Theyre incredibly awkward around people their own ages, theyve never done drugs, and they dont even get references to trashy reality-TV shows. But while you were busy sexting some kid you met on MySpace, the home-schoolers had graduated at 16 and already had much brighter futures than you. Singer/songwriter/pianist Alison Sudol, who goes by A Fine Frenzy, was one such home-schooled nerd. The self-proclaimed bookworm cites authors such as Lewis Carroll and Charles Dickens as influences for her whimsical alt-pop, which is similar to Feist and Keane, but with even more piano.
