The ska-punk wiseacres of Reel Big Fish headline this ginormous Auld Lange Syne affair encompassing three different bars along Craftsman Court in Scottsdale. SoCal reggae/hip-hop act The Dirty Heads are also scheduled to perform, as are local bands Metal Elvis, Letters to Lovers, and Hairforce. The life and music of the "Hardest Working Man in Entertainment" will be feted by Modern Groove Assembly, Jeremy Ellis, Josh One, and members of UK DJ collective Bugz in the Attic, during The Godfather: A Multimedia Tribute to James Brown at the Sail Inn, 26 South Farmer Avenue in Tempe. The event also serves as a retro costume ball of sorts (where attendees in their funkiest '70s outfits get $5 off admission) featuring hors d'oeuvres, midnight champagne toast, party favors, and more. 8 p.m. $10 pre-sale, $20 at the door.
