When Fiddy spouted knowledge about the fronting folks who peaked in their teens, he could have been talking about Martin Lawrence. Between starring in a string of hit movies and hosting HBO's Def Comedy Jam as well as his eponymous Fox sitcom, the explicit-tongued funnyman owned the airwaves in the '90s. Then he kinda sorta disappeared. Now, he’s back on the road again as a standup comic.

Lawrence never fell off enough to be considered a wankster, even after a sexual harassment lawsuit and a drug-influenced freakout in the late-‘90s, all of which he was able to parlay into his neighborhood-honed humor for some prime celluloid work in the 2000s. The Richard Pryor influence ensures that Lawrence will keep his standup routine’s humor as raw and truthful as ever, while his penchant for being on full blast will give subtle odes to Eddie Murphy in his prime.
