The Acoustic Brotherhood

Since the acoustic form has become cliché, it has become more and more difficult to find those who are truly good at their craft. The soothing sounds of Southwestern-style folk/country have, indeed, become popular, even east of the Rockies, and the Acoustic Brotherhood Tour features three of the biggest names in the genre. Though Alejandro Escovedo actually began in the punk rock world, his style has changed quite a bit since his early days. His latest record was produced by Tony Visconti, who worked with such acts as Thin Lizzy, T. Rex, and David Bowie. For Los Lonely Boys, their most recent venture includes an EP called 1969, which features covers from that year. And joining the brother (and sister)hood tour is Carrie Rodriguez. While she's best known for her violin playing, her newest album explores other avenues, and her sweet and simple voice takes the driver's seat. It's clear that all three of these artists are turning to their original influences for new inspiration. Let's hope they can inspire Phoenix while they're at it.
