If the word "loser" actually means "killer Americana musician," then "The Losers Ball" may actually have an accurate title. Probably, though, it's supposed to be ironic. The lineup for the third-annual night will feature Exene Cervenka, frontwoman of legendary L.A. punk band X, who just last year released a solo album on Bloodshot Records. Also headlining is the Dex Romweber Duo, which consists of brother/sister combo Dexter and Sara. Though their name may not be as easily recognizable as X, Dex is considered a king of the underground, and has influenced the likes of Neko Case, Cat Power, and Jack White. White has even been quoted as saying of Dexter, "His songwriting, along with his love of classic American music from the south, be it rockabilly, country or R&B, is one of the best kept secrets of the rock 'n' roll underground." Add to this the country/bluegrass/hillbilly stylings of locals Flathead and Hashknife Outfit, and you've got one hell of a night.
