Phoenix Chorale takes a step into sacred territory

We get it. You're the type who only steps into a church on major holidays. However, the Phoenix Chorale has given us another good reason to spend some time in the pews with its "Darkness & Light" performance at Brophy Chapel. The circa 1928 spot showcases plenty of Spanish architectural influences mixed with magnificent stained glass windows straight out of Dublin, Ireland. In other words, it’s the perfect venue for a candle-lit Phoenix Chorale performance of selections from Shawn Crouch, Morten Lauridsen, James MacMillan, Carlos Surinach, Sir John Tavener, Eric Whitacre, and the world premiere of “Dark Night of the Soul” by the Chorale’s composer-in-residence Oja Gjeilo.
