The natural high. Some have snagged it by smoking bananas, eating nutmeg, or placing halved ping-pong balls over their eyes and listening to symphonic prog. But for runners, the titillation goes with the territory, as do ice baths, frequent urination, and nipple burn.
Sprinters of all sorts converge to share pleasure and pain (and Gatorade and pizza) during the Arizona Road Racers Open Mile. Founded in 1970, the Arizona Road Racers are a non-profit organization involved in hundreds of races each year, from 5Ks to 50-milers.
