Cobra Skulls

You have to love a band that puts its name in its song titles, as Reno punk trio Cobra Skulls have done in the past. Take their 2007 disc, Sitting Army, for example. Every one of the 13 tracks utilizes the word "cobra." "Don't Count Your Cobras Before They Hatch," "Cobra Skulls Jukebox," "Anybody Scene My Cobra," "Charming the Cobra," and "The Cobra and the Man-Whore" are some of the songs off the album. They've since dropped the conceit, though they do poke fun at themselves in "I Used to Like Them When They Put 'Cobra' in the Titles," off their new disc, American Rubicon. Cobra Skulls, who walk the line between Against Me! and The Dead Kennedys, will bring their party songs to life this week with an all-ages show at south Scottsdale's Chyro Arts. Rumor has it that lead singer Devin Peralta, who is half-Argentine, writes and sings some of the songs in Spanish, which should make for an interesting show.
