Just in case you missed it, Arena Football League 2.0 arrived on the saturated sports-market scene with games over Easter weekend.
Yawn? Actually, no.
The return of the AFL is a fascinating story of epic lows (the league canceled the 2009 season, then announced bankruptcy) and awesome highs (new AFL commissioner Jerry Kurz compiled a group of big-baller moneybags to resuscitate the league; the AFL's original assets were purchased in December). Locally, Phoenix is impacted because the Arizona Rattlers, league champeens in 1994 and 1997, return to the miniature football field when they host the Chicago Rush. Many of the AFL's players and coaches from 2008 will be back for the 16-game campaign, including head skipper Kevin Guy, who is entering his second season with the Rattlers.
In an unprecedented move, all tickets to this game will be offered for free.
