The best thing about the start of baseball season is that every team has hope. The worst component is that few of those teams have a good reason to be hopeful.
Whether the Arizona Diamondbacks are equipped with a solid foundation is a question that will be answered tonight at Chase Field when they begin a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals, who are perennially one of the strongest teams in the National League. A stong showing by the D-backs would make it seem that they can hang with the top teams in the league. In the best case, fans will be treated to a hot contest between two great clubs. At worst, AZ fans can at least watch Albert Pujols â the St. Louis slugger and future Hall of Famer â knock the cover off the ball.
