AHA! Why doesn't Village Voice Media fund ALL of the expenses for the ACLU? After all, they (and their corporate cronies) will profit the most from having ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS and the "Open Borders Policy". They are the ones to profit from starting a NEW COUNTRY with the existing "states" of Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.!!!
Then ALL AmericanCitizens will be treated like ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, while those who favor the new country called "The North American Union" will be rewarded with citizenship!!!!

You have to ask the ACLU how many other citizens of this country does the ACLU step up and defend. It would appear that all of the focus is on the Hispanic community and doesn't help African Americans, Jews or Caucasian Americans. Where are the Civil Rights cases involving Free Speech and why doesn't the ACLU step up to protect our most important freedom. They aren't interested because it's not a part of the hot stove topic for the month.
Larkin and Lacey are only interested into what happened to them personally and because they are owners have the freedom to opt in their opinions when they like. When other issues are presented they don't report it and the New Times allows organizations such as law enforcement to continue to retaliate against tax paying citizens of this community. Wake up Larkin and Lacey, there are other atrocities occurring in Phoenix other than your 2 minute incarceration that you laugh about over Martini's.

Every time a citizen becomes needy and is denied the benefits of our social safety net whose benefits they created with their taxes, and those same benefits are given freely to illegals who did not pay in, the citizen is robbed of the benefits of their labor. The only class of worker who is robbed of the benefits of their labor is the slave.

The last laugh - all these boycotts towards Arizona businesses, doing business in Arizona, and anybody having anything to do with Arizona are going to cause many more illegals to have to go home much sooner than anybody had planned!
For once the will of the people of this state has been honored. Anybody who wants to cause harm to the people of Arizona because they cannot do simple math and want to believe the professional race-baiters who have whipped up the illegals into a frothful rage should just gracefully leave. If they cannot see the hypocrisy of Mexico's own border laws mandating a 10 year prison sentence for 2X offenders and then demanding us to open our border more and give citizenship rights to their millions - well you have no business doing public business, you have no business being in media, you are treasonous and a willing stooge for a shadow government. Anybody who has lived any length of time can see the professional hidden hand behind the scenes on this one and do not think for a minute that the Holleywood Whores made that movie "coincidentally." And I repeat, that movie should not be released. It will incite violence and is the epitome of irresponsibility. And for the rulers of this rag - how about an update on the Zapatistas of Chiapas? Have they all been killed or co-opted into this united indigenous movement by the professional organizers? Since we Arizonans are concerned about the population that may be foisted upon us permanently and since they keep screaming that we are the racist ones, how about a little truth in reporting about how they are doing with that prejudism thing over in Chiapas? Is it like the Basque Separatist situation when Spain reported the problem was solved? And then we heard that they had all been imprisoned? Every last one of them? What goes on in Chiapas these days?
These things take decades to prepare. Perhaps some of our local tribal leaders who have trained in the former Soviet Union would like to elaborate? Yes, you read right. This is my state and I have been here a long time with my eyes and ears wide open and I am angry now.

U guys are fucking idiots, the law mandates that if a person is pulled over for a legitimate reason and police have a reason to suspect that they are foreign (not just mexican, which i love how this paper always uses) then they have the right to ask for documentation. If you dont want to have any issues and face deportation then become a naturalized citizen, simple as that. And since this paper always wants to use mexicans as an example here are a few examples. Walk into any free clinic and let me know what the major nationality of people are in the waiting room, walk into any state or city operated financial aid building and let me know what the major nationality of people are in there. If you dont want issues with the cops, become a citizen, pay your taxes, AND LEARN TO SPEAK FUCKING ENGLISH!!!

My dear Midwesternr, For starters I must admit that I am not technologically sophisticated enough to know how to scan documents and then get them into this comment section. Furthermore, I do not even know if the server can accommodate the bandwidth this would require, would you like to offer help in this regard? Secondly, while there are whistleblower laws, a closer examination would reveal to you that they are extremely difficult to enforce, especially with the Bush-Shrub Labor Board, and finally there is always the possibility that a final solution will be enacted upon the potential whistleblower. Most working parents simply do not have the time to do the research to do this properly and many a state employee has sought the help of various attorneys who it turned out, were in actuality working for the big money interest, the state. Suffice to say that part of the high turnover and loss of valuable employees is due to the fact, as one of my former co-workers put it to me - that she was NOT going to spend her retirement in court explaining what really happened. Regardless of how you may wish to see it, the whistleblower is most often the one who ends up without a job and no way to feed their kids. Lastly, (and probably foremost) is that your character assassination of state employees shows me that you agree with Joe Stack in that employees of corrupt entities are complicit with the criminality of their employer even if they have no knowledge of it and the criminality is not happening within their area. You are bringing this conversation into very dangerous territory and while I agree that the conversation does need to occur, I do not think that you have demonstrated that you are the one that it needs to occur with. After all, the U.S. government is of the people, by the people, and for the people, and all the people's of the world know this. Our most recent Times Square terrorist has stated that when he went to his homeland and saw his people dying from our drone attacks he became motivated to do the dirty deed. 1)Have you ever traveled to a foreign country where you were not a member of the US military and the main language was not english? Were you completely fluent in the language spoken there? Why NOT? No Then you really don't understand the traffic laws either.
2)Is it the Illegal parents of US born citizens that are demanding the classes be taught in spanish as well as english or is it US born citizens who are lobbyists that are demanding it? If these illegal parents are then captured and deported what do you suppose that we do with the US citizens that are under age minors who are now wards of the state?
3)So are you openly admitting that you harass people minding their own business having a get together to celebrate an event you do not fully understand and that you also routinely state extremely nasty and critical things to the children and elderly who look to you to be foreign?
OR is that not your real feelings/ actions and you lied again in passing on someone else's story as your own?
Every pensioner that I know that starts to collect their Social security payments and is actually retired, likes to file, self acknowledged nuisance, lawsuits against the most minor infractions of the local/state (insert their pet peeve) law/code so that they can feel as if they still matter to society and that their opinion still count. After those persons have been retire for about 10 years or so then they settle down content to suck at the nipple of the American taxpayer and their own retirement fund resources until their family stuffs them in a home so a nursing staff and a cleaning crew of immigrants can look after them full time and the OH so dutiful family comes once a month to visit POOR ol' pensioner.
So even with old people, you offer no proof just second hand hearsay. If you have heard of such actions against your beloved elderly pensioner, why have you not brought official action against the offender? When my wifes brother defrauded their grandmother, I gathered proof, documented that proof and his actions in verifiable ways and went to the authorities to resolve the action. Conclusion... Brother-in -law went to court, got probation, I put up with years of hostility from my mother in-law for turning in a family member for doing an illegal act.
It is items like your original post where you state, in a latter post, are not your own ideas but pasted from a email you received and you modified, and your response to me where again you have no proof just stories from other people, that really drive home the point that people against immigration have nothing more then stories and hearsay and they offer that as the gospel truth.

You are correct, it was NOT 1 sovereign nation it was multiple sovereign nations.
When 1 group has acknowledged control/ influence of a defined area, no matter how roughly defined that area appears to an outsider, it is a nation.
Are you trying to tell me that the mound building natives of the mid-west that had a common language structure, trade routes, similar religious customs shared by a large number of cultures and complex social interactions that included armed conflicts over resources, political ideas / intentions were not individual and sovereign nations? And this was in an area that stretched from north of the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico and from west of the Mississippi to east of the Appalachian Mountains as far as the Atlantic coast line. This is in a time frame from BEFORE 400CE to until the arrival of European Colonists.
So how can you say "North America was not a sovereign nation when Europeans came"?

I will stand my ground and speak my truth and demand change, parity, correction, fairness, openness, full disclosure etc. Do you think it is easy for people in the course of their daily job to give benefits to recipients that already obviously have more wealth than they themselves do? How long do you expect that keg not to blow up? You cannot stifle it forever. At least there was a time when the R & G would preface every article about AHCCCS with the note that it was formerly an underworld business but implying that now that the state had taken over everything was all cleaned up. Oh yeah, baby! AT least the R & G at one time did used to have articles about how specific citizens were being passed over for life saving health care by AHCCCS Administration in favor of giving care to illegal aliens. You don't think THAT needs fixing? You call losing your life DRIVEL? You call having your wages taken from you to create these social benefits and then not being able to receive those same benefits in your time of need DRIVEL? I call it slavery because it is wealth distribution done to the people who can afford it the least and are therefore deprived of their right of self-determination. Good Riddance to you.

You know I make my claims from personal experience of myself and family members because we know people, we know their stories and we know what we see through our jobs and through our neighbors and yes we can prove it about illegals getting benefits above and beyond anything a citizen who has worked here all their life can get. And when you become an elderly pensioner you will find that you will be quite the exception if you are well enough and energetic enough to engage the battle so I speak for my beloved elderly pensioner who has expressed these things to me. And if you take a good look, AARP will not help on this issue. Nobody will that I know of. Many people can tell you the same things as me and many people can prove it, most especially state employees, although they often have been lied to and do not know the part about the villa in Mexico that was put in the daughter's name. State employees are an amazing bunch in a way. They see all kinds of criminality that poisons their day, they work for fantastically pathetic wages, they are told that they cannot report the criminality that they see because they can lose their job to do so - it is not in their job description. State employees have to give AHCCCS benefits to people who afford vacations that the state employee will never be able to afford. They are poisoned by the disparity they see every day giving benefits to people they mostly see as undeserving while they work for painfully low wages. The devices to prevent the dissemination of this knowledge are in place quite securely however now that President Calderon is promising to show us the math on behalf of Arizona's "racism" against his "fellow countrymen" I am hoping that we can have a discussion showing him our real math too so maybe some disclosure will be encouraged. See, they are his "fellow countrymen" - they come here for whatever they can get by whatever means with every intention of returning home with their booty. Do you accept that with so many citizens unemployed? I think that until you get your feet on the ground and live on the street alongside illegals and have to work alongside illegals you will not even believe the hatred and prejudice they give out everyday. Why are you so dismissive of your suffering citizens and elevate the needs of the illegal above the needs of citizens? They surely will never do the same for you if the tables are ever turned. They will laugh at you and hurl insults like always. If nobody is looking they will escalate to physical in a heartbeat. For their attitude alone they should all be sent back. Diamondbacks, I did used to try to get a balance of all sides but during the HealthCare Reform debate I heard all those talking heads that you mention (and others) all repeat VERBATIM the exact same talking points full of mischaracterizations and other lies of the omissive type and some lies that were just blatantly lies. One of the most obvious was how young people choose not to purchase healthcare insurance with no mention of how difficult it is to find a job that pays enough for the worker to even afford to buy health insurance. Hello? You are going to tell me that the biggest demographic that is getting married and having babies CHOOSES not to have insurance? I remember being that age and facing those difficulties and doing geographics to try to better my position. I remember working for Barry Goldwater's private club where even the busboys got the medical insurance but they tried to exclude us waitresses and I had to fight for it. Then after that huge battle I still paid cash for everything because I was afraid to lose what I had to fight so hard for. So if I ever thought that those hate radio people had anything to add to the discussion they pretty well disqualified themselves on that HC reform issue. I question the legality of what they are doing as well but since they are obviously all bought off by the Big Pharma complex it is a big battle. Fyi I do support healthcare reform. I do not support the sweetheart deal given to the Big Pharma money machine. I do not support Codex. I am not sure about the National ID card. With any of these things there is a huge trust issue. If we could trust people to be honorable about the information a National Data base of our health records could really do alot to increase knowledge about side affects and life threatening Rx interactions for example, we could do work that will benefit all humanity for generations to come but it is an opportunity lost because we have to fight it because we all live with so much corruption daily that we know the information will be stolen and mis-used. It is such a waste of a good opportunity. Normally these things increment over decades like the Social Security number that was never ever going to be used for identification. But now we are being hit fast and hard on all topics and it is too much for any one person to keep up with, which is why now more than ever we need principled media who gives us "just the facts, ma'am." Media who we can trust to lay out the information and let our own minds make the decision instead of making the decision for us. I have tried to call these people whose names that you have mentioned and some who have websites like Rush. I have written my "vehement outrage" about his mischaracterizations and other insults but calling on the phone I do not get through and my comments do also get deleted. They make no pretense at not being biased. I am pretty well disgusted with all of our media some of the time and most of our media all of the time. It has become increasingly difficult and time consuming to get proper well-rounded information on issues of importance. I really miss the old news radio format that just reported the news. Then it was easier to read between the lines. Talk radio - ugh - talk is a 4 letter word and I think that the Biblical commentary on improper use of the human tongue is wise to remember. I do not know where I stand on the political spectrum but I am very ready for a Common Sense party because I am tired of the two party system bickering and corruption and they are stalemated on many issues. (Although current events are forcing them out of their stalemate or into oblivion as far as relevance and the flip-flopping witnessed as they try to salvage their careers has erased any credibility they ever had so they should just quit and make room for someone new - like me! ha ha ) Truthfully I have not had opportunity to investigate all my alternatives as far as political affiliation. Ron Paul had some good vids out that made me laugh but right now my mind is failing me as to why I was not interested in pursuing that avenue. I hope that my perception is sufficient proof because how else could I? If you are for reals that is. I give you a chance despite that you drew a pretty hateful line and put alot of assumptions in. If you have seen anybody talking about a Common Sense party they must have been reading my mail or my Facebook.

For that matter why are the elder pensioners NOT making a fuss when their social security payments to them are higher then what they expected due to some one else putting money into their accounts?

I use the name "sarum" in respect to the fiction book of that name and what it represents to the reader, a sort of de ja vu, that we are doing this all over again and are unaware of our history and so we are like insects caught in the amber of our time and making decisions with incomplete information and no realization of the repetitiveness of these challenges that we face as well as no benefit of historical perspective on alternate solutions.
I do not thank god for the blessings of citizenship, I thank the members of my mixed race family, many of whom are of Mexican descent and who served in every decade and every war. I also full well realize what is needed to keep the privilege of citizenship and am ready to engage the battle. I am not thrown off track by your contemporary isms which are mere spasms of incomplete thought.
That post is copied from an e-mail that has been circulating for several years. I amended the word "American" to say U.S. because I think that it is extremely myopic of U.S. citizens to use the word "American" to refer to themselves only, or their flag. After all, most illegal immigrants from these two continents can and do say "I am American too." It is great that you totally missed the point of the letter. Was that intentional or is it indicative of the integrity of all your thought processes?
Lastly, I note that many comments on these forums that question the quality and legality of the journalism being presented in this rag and illuminate point by point the clear and dangerous problems with the mischaracterizations being presented - these comments are being deleted by the management. We are taught throughout our lives that a biased media is representative of a government system that we don't want to live under. We are taught to be grateful that this does not happen in the U.S.A. I am not grateful for the bias presented by this paper. I do question the legality of what is occurring in the Phoenix New Times in print and on-line. I do believe that you have a legal obligation to present both sides unbiased or at least allow citizens to respond without getting deleted. The fact that you choose to delete comments such as mine proves that my points were accurate and you deleters full well know it. Readers do not. Unfortunately you are merely stifling debate, and exchange of viewpoints because there was no swear words and no illegal concepts in my deleted posts.
You, Mr Lacey, are flexing your muscle in a very distasteful way and it will not be forgotten. Among the many things in this nation that need reform your actions have now added the New Times and all of your other publications to my list. And I will state again, I was believing you for a minute about Sheriff Arpaio, but now that I am paying attention and see what and how you do, it is clear to me that you have shot your own self in the foot regarding your credibility against the Sheriff. I am perfectly capable and willing to assign truth and fault to both parties but you are blowing it big time with your twisting of the truth and lies of omission. You are contributing to the degradation of this once great nation with your refusal to engage both sides meaningfully, unless you welcome the violence to come as meaningful. There is an exchange of ideas that print media posing as newspapers are expected to provide and I do believe that there are laws around that and you are deleting me because I am calling you to be a good citizen with the power that you wield.

Hey Sarum...First of all I hate the fact you use that name as it is my High School's nickname and you discrace it with this drival. Second of all, no need to write the president, I will happily drive you to the boarder and drop you off. I am sure the Mexicans will be happy to have you. It is really great that you miss the point of the lawsuit. The point is that this law is unconstitutional! Do we need immigration reform? OF COURSE WE DO. But I will not sacrifice immigration reform for the sake of my constitutional rights! On a side not you mention the huge celebration on July 4th. I am sure you are mocking the use of Cinco De Mayo as a celebration and equating it to a Mexican independance day. If that is what you are doing it is not Mexican Independence Day. It is a holiday that commemorates a military victory. And really it has become a bit of a anglo holiday like St. Pats has become a drinking holiday. It is another excuse to party to some people, just like St. Pats is. There are those that take it seriously, just like St. Pats, and some that don't.
Either way, if you want to be a jackass that is your choice...and Thank god for the right to choose and MOVE FREELY in our country!

MOVING TO MEXICO
Dear President Obama:
I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.
We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. Into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.
We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws.
I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind tellingPresident Calderon, that I'm on my way over?
Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. Please print all Mexican government forms in English.
4. I want my grandkids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.
5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.
7. Please plan to feed my grandkids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico , but, I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. Flag from my house top, put U S. Flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.
13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.
14. I want to receive free food stamps.
15. Naturally, I'll expect free rent subsidies.
16. I'll need Income tax credits so that although I don't pay Mexican Taxes, I'll receive money from the government.
17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Gov't pays $4,500 to help me buy a new car.
18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Securityprogram so that I'll get a monthly income in retirement.
I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. From Mexico . I am sure that President Calderon won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

You lost me in the second paragraph. You wrote: "has "reasonable suspicion" that someone is a Mexican"?? I really expect more from two seasoned reporters. I believe that officers have to have reasonable suspicion that the individual has immigrated to this country illegally. This is not a problem with "Mexicans", it's a problem with not following Federal laws intended to secure our national borders and protect the safety and liberties of American Citizens. Our primary problem is unlawful immigration from Mexico but there are hundreds of thousands of American citizens of Mexican descent and legal Mexican immigrants that should not be threatened by this legislation. It's articles like this written by irresponsible journalists that fan the flames and turn a process issue into a racial debate. Nice work, do you get a raise when the bloodshed starts?
