With the strong playoff runs turned in by the Suns, Cardinals, and Coyotes, it's easy to feel optimistic about a Phoenix team winning a championship in the near future. For our money, the team with the best shot of bringing a title to Phoenix is the squad that brought one home last year: the Phoenix Mercury.

The Mercury will begin its title defense on Saturday, May 15, when they open the regular season against the Los Angeles Sparks. The Sparks, led by forward Candace Parker, came within a hair of eliminating the Mercury in last year's dramatic Western Conference Finals. With both teams returning strong rosters, the game should be a wild one.
