Angels & Airwaves

Fart jokes. Nudity. Getting laid. Not getting laid. These were a few of the topics that often came up at Blink-182 shows and helped the band secure a place in the hearts of girls and boys everywhere. The "equal parts comedy and music" formula proved successful for the guys, helping them sell millions of albums worldwide. If you're jonesin' for the new Blink-182 album — the recently reunited trio will hit the studio this summer to record the anticipated follow-up to 2003's self titled disc — check out Angels & Airwaves to tide you over. The band, fronted by Blink-182's Tom DeLonge, still features DeLonge's whiny vocals, but strays from the typical sugary pop-punk Blink sound and offers something more mature. "I think there are a lot of people scratching their heads and I don't blame them," DeLonge has said about the two different bands. "You have a guy that ran around naked for 15 years screaming obscenities and made a career off teenage angst and rebellion, and then he comes at you with this thing that's extremely sophisticated and deep. It's bipolar." The group gave away Love, their latest effort, for free thanks to corporate underwriting. They also shot a feature film by the same title that could hit theaters later this year.
