This art goes beyond visual investments

Purchasing a piece of art can be considered an investment in itself, but at Christine Cassano's "Invest with Confidence" art lovers are encouraged to make a different type of investment. Namely, one in their communities. That's because Cassano's glass-reinforced concrete works are offered at a discounted price to those who pledge to donate ten hours of their time volunteering through the HandsOn Greater Phoenix organization, which helps place volunteers in local service projects. "I'm hoping people who come to my show look a little different at what they consider an investment," Cassano says. "Just by volunteering, you can get so much out of that just by making a personal investment."

Cassano's works also examine economic investment. She embedded various commodities, from grain to oil to cold hard cash, within the works in an effort to invoke thought about what is truly valuable in people's lives. "I hope the dialogue of the work speaks that investment is not just about money [but also] about the big picture," Cassano says.
