Downtown record shop continues series with 1986 classic

We know vinyl records and 112-degree weather don’t mix, but Revolver Records and air conditioning, plus free popcorn and a flick, is a sizzling combination.

Revolver continues its weekly Movie Mondays series with the 1986 fantasy classic Labyrinth. Jim Henson directed a sweet-faced Jennifer Connolly, whose search for her brother leads her to the King of Goblins, played by David Bowie. But since neither Connolly nor Bowie can act, co-stars Hoggle, Ludo, Sir Didymas, and the rest of the terrycloth troupe seem all the more life-like. It’s especially fun watching Bowie prance in his codpiece, toss his hair, and scowl his way through the climactic “Magic Dance” sequence.

Need more crotch? Upcoming features at the weekly event include Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange and Woody Allen in Annie Hall.
