Hidden amongst the dozens of rock, punk, and hardcore bands that Johnny Volume cites on his MySpace page as musical influences are many of country music's greatest rebels. There's David Allan Coe (of course), not to mention Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and all three generations of Hank Williams' family tree. The turbulent and tempestuous songs of all of these artists will likely find there way into the DJs playlist during the Outlaw Country Brunch on Sunday, July 18, at the Lucky Devil in Tempe. Volume will spin up voluminous amounts of vinyl during the afternoon affair, which will also offer such food and drink specials as $3 Bloody Marys and mimosas. The music starts at high noon (natch) and theres no cover.
Sun., July 18, 12-4 p.m., 2010
