If only we all had such varied interests – and not only had ’em, but publicly excelled at ’em.

There’s Josh Blue the artist, whose bold, evocative paintings and sculptures are featured on his Web site and have been displayed at the likes of Denver’s Access Gallery. There’s Josh Blue the athlete, who made the Paralympic soccer team in 2000 and represented the U.S. in Athens in the 2004 Games. Then there’s Josh Blue the performer. As a standup with a fiercely self-deprecating, satirical take on his own cerebral palsy, he may be right when he frequently chastises, “You’ll all be going to hell for laughing at me,” but neither he nor his audiences seem to mind that outcome; the general public even voted him the season-four winner of NBC’s reality contest Last Comic Standing. Think the only reason he’s funny is because of his disability? See that aforementioned “going to hell” comment.

Blue headlines an appearance at the Tempe Improv this weekend, with a variety of local comics opening the show.
