Details

Adam Lambert is scheduled to perform on Sunday, August 1, at Marquee Theatre in Tempe.
Adam Lambert has the vocal range of James Blunt and the Maybelline-boosted looks of a young Lisa Rinna. And that — combined with a man-on-man kiss here, an onstage pelvis-to-face grinding there — makes the American Idol runner-up a truly one-of-a-kind specimen in today's hypersexualized pop music zoo. Critics have identified the 28-year-old former Hebrew student as the first openly gay mainstream pop artist to "launch" a major-label music career (unlike Elton John and other grandfathered-in gay stars), but that's only half the story: He's also the one of the first mainstream pop singers to consciously make gay sex part of his on-stage mien (unlike, say, George Michael, who generally restricts his pelvis-to-face grinding sessions to the relative privacy of public restrooms). It's good that Lambert's presentation is so distinctive because, let's face it, his music ain't. "Whataya Want from Me," the biggest track off his debut album For Your Entertainment, is the sort of blandly defiant sing-along that preteen girls like best, and the other singles are strictly Scion sound system fare. Still, one could have less rewarding socio-musical experiences than attending one of the man-siren's Glam Nation Tour shows. The guy moves the chains, there's no doubt about it.

I'm amazed reading reviews from your country, i live in australia and we welcomed Adam with open arms.So much, bigotry and so much, hate, take him for what he is.He is a wonderful person, a great entertainer, religion and sexual preference's don't come into the equation.Get over yourselves.Give him credit where it is due.

James Blunt? WTF. Industry insiders and pros have pretty much all agreed that Adam Lambert has the vocal range of no other. He can sing every chord on a guitar. He can sing sweetly and he can sing raw sexy. I have no idea what the Hebrew student thing is all about, and I think you are wrong about his music, especially since the biggest names in the biz had a hand in creating those songs. He does move the chains, you are right, and for that I am excited and thrilled. It's been too long since we've had an actual superstar who can sing, move, melt hearts, smolder, simmer, shine.

"28-year-old former Hebrew student"? Really??? Are you kidding me? I have to hope that this was just your lack of journalistic acumen and not a thinly-veiled anti-semitic comment. Adam has repeatedly said that although he was born to a Jewish mother and a Christian dad, he is SPIRITUAL, not Jewish in the traditional sense. Check your facts, he doesn't speak a lick of Hebrew, although he sang a lovely song in Hebrew, he did so phonetically with the English transliteration taped to the monitor as he sang. Not to say that the Jewish mothers, as well as their daughters (and sons!) are some of his biggest fans. Now that I've cleared that up, I can't dignify the rest of your hackneyed "reporting" with further corrections.Journalism 101=1. CHECK YOUR FACTS, 2. CHECK YOUR SOURCE 3. REPEAT!!!!

You lost me at "Adam has the vocal range of James Blunt"...Are you serious? James Blunt can only dream of having Adam's range. The man has a voice without peer. And to the other commenter...speaking as someone who grew up in Scottsdale, yeah, Arizona in general is sadly just that bigoted, (Hello!...McCain) so a fear-filled reviewer is no surprise at all.

Drivel, Drivel, Drivel. Why Hebrew student? Why not say what you mean, Jewish guy! The person writing this review is obviously very slanted in his thinking and thats putting it nicely. I don't think he has even been to a concert and seen this wonderful performer in person which is a shame because he really is missing something wonderful..Finally, I don't even worry about the so called reviewers because when someone like Brian May of Queen says and I quote "my knees turned to jelly just listening to this wonderful singer", that means so much more that idiots just writing some snarky comments to get their paycheck.

What sort of mindless drivel is this? Obviously, you do not "get" Adam Lambert at all. His sexuality is a part of who he is--it does not define him or his music.

His music is the draw Craig! Adam can sing;you must not have done your homework on this article. He does not do gay sexual things on stage. Did you consider Rod Stewart sexual? How about Rhiana,Madonna,Bon Jonvi? Just because they are not gay does not mean they have not done similiar things. How about Britney,GaGa, Elvis? Sexy is Sexy and you need to recant your statements about the teen sing along because I know men and women off all ages who love and adore him and his music. Enough said.
