An Arizonan 08/25/2010 2:19:00 PM
I'd consider a New Times endorsement to be a liability, considering the New Times' editorial approval of illegal migrants and it stance on not defending or protecting our borders
-
Bill 08/25/2010 12:24:00 PM
Well, looks like New Times' endorcement didn't sway the voters of Arizona. But, maybe Sherrif Joe's did. Oh well, at least there will be something for you idiots to write and complain about.
-
Tina 08/24/2010 9:53:00 PM
Forego, you're obviously active with the Arpaio/Thomas/Hendershott gang to utter such a desperate untruth about Romley, "Arizona got rid of him once and WE'LL do it again."
After 16 years, Romley retired in 2004 without scandal, and since he came back to offer his services and then be appointed as the interim county attorney when the county was in such disarray, he's certainly shown the good stuff he's made out of, doesn't hesitate to call a spade a spade about valid improprieties, works at bringing people together, and is no political pushover. All signs are is that his opponent, who worked under Thomas, will be and has been a political pushover for Arpaio.....who should be facing federal indictments soon for his countless wrongdoings and abuse of power.

GIJane 08/24/2010 12:50:00 AM
Hmmm, personal attacks because I have an opinion regarding a particular form of media I find biased and ultra-liberal. The point here being YOU find it necessary to make a personal attack on someone who you don't know, and who earned the right to an opinion by serving her country. As you notice, I'm not calling you mindless names, because I don't know you. I only know what you felt it necessary to do, trying to mindlessly attack a stranger who's opinion SUPPOSEDLY means nothing to you. HMMMMM!!!! Leave character to question, doesn't it!!!!
-
Foregolf333 08/23/2010 8:33:00 PM
There is no way Romley will be back in office. Arizona got rid of him once and we'll do it again.
-
08/23/2010 8:10:00 AM
Boy are you one delusional idiot? You are paying lower taxes than have been in effect in memory. And oh my you are just so oppressed that you have to work in the fields picking lettuce with illegals. How awful having to be surrounded by all those guys who know how to cut and pack ten times the number of heads of lettuce you can in your work day. But then if you weren't such a lazy whiner those Mexicans would probably help you get up to speed. But nobody likes whiners, especially not the arrogant hate filled type you demonstrate yourself to be. Poor mistreated little Jeffy!
-
Robisready 08/23/2010 12:50:00 AM
Ignorant ditto-head.
-
Robisready 08/23/2010 12:47:00 AM
And you are such a mindless piece of crap that not only do you read this "rag" you take your time to comment on it. What a waste of flesh. Of course that is the gameplan for teh right wing hate machine. If you can't make your case because you are void of ideas you make every effort to disrupt the flow of real information.

Iheartfoo 08/21/2010 5:10:00 AM
So, just curious, you decide who to vote or who not by newspaper recommendations?
I now know why Arpaio is still in office, why Symington was ever elected and it has nothing to do with who he is or what he does, facts or ration..
I plan on voting for whichever candidates make education a priority in Az, it's obviously been low on importance for far too long.
You go ahead and make being corrupt, dishonest and void of integrity the qualities for whom you endorse, no doubt things will turn out just the way you like.
-
karl renz 08/21/2010 3:16:00 AM
Thanks for showing who not to vote for
-
GIJane 08/20/2010 11:56:00 PM
Ha, Ha. I was just commenting that I needed to see what candidates this over-liberal, biased, parrot cage liner supported, so I could vote otherwise. Thanks for saving me the effort.
-
Tina 08/20/2010 11:51:00 PM
What a pleasant surprise. Renz Jennings, Dougherty and Romley were also my three choices. They've each got a wealth of experience, dedication and knowledge, are up to the tasks facing them, are good communicators, and have withstood the test of time. While this is Dougherty's first crack at Congress, with his experience as an investigative journalist in national political matters and his scrutinizing dedication to issues he's faced with, we will be the beneficiaries by electing him.
-
Jeff 08/20/2010 11:37:00 PM
If you truely believe there are no political criminals then why would smart thinking Americans be so OVER TAXED, OPPRESSED, AND FORCED TO SWALLOW WHAT COMES OUT OF WASHINGTON???? Each and every polition in Washington needs to be REPLACED with a true American.
P.S. Sent them packing.....without any Pensions,Health Insurance,or Unused Campain Contributions. They've been stealing out of our pockets long enough! Let them pick produce and try to live like they say we should!!!!!

Thanks Michael..Now I know who not to vote for..But I will still do my own investigation since I've found its your natural nobjective to hoodwink the public..I've no respect for you or your opinions whatsoever.
-

LOL, now that I know the New Times is supporting Romley, I will be SURE to vote for Montgomerey!

PAULINA MORRIS BRAGS ABOUT HER FIXING “BROKEN GOVERNMENT”
Unfortunately, her bragging includes taxing your pocketbook and incurring increased debt for the future. Then, she walked away from the job before it was fixed.
FACT: Republican Arizona Congressional District 3 candidate PAULINA MORRIS was a member of the Maricopa County Special Health Care District.
FACT: During her tenure, total liabilities rose and operating losses continued in the millions.
FACT: A property tax was initiated to help PAULINA MORRIS fix “broken government”
FACT: The District began operations on January 1, 2005 and they imposed a secondary
property tax. Paulina Morris was elected to the inaugural board in 11/2004.
———————————————
The Jewish News of Greater Phoenix (July 2, 2010 Friday, Pg. 1 Vol. 62 No. 4) reports:
“In 2005, Morris became the chair of the district’s board. By the end of her tenure in 2008, “I had led a financial turnaround of the system by running it as a business,” she said. The health-care system was then $100 million in the black.”
———————————————
LET’S EXAMINE THE RECORD:
According to a March 2009 audit by State of Arizona Auditor General, the Health District under Morris’ tenure had:
Total Liabilities
2005 $44,536,760
2008 $121,857,128
———————–
Operating Loss
2006 (31,801,467)
2007 (50,151,251)
2008 (15,838,376)
———————–
Property Tax Revenues
2005 Zero
2006 40,000,000
2007 43,000,000
2008 46,310,880
Source: State of Arizona Auditor General, March • 2009, Maricopa County Special Health Care District,
Report No. 09-03
———————————————
Therefore, Morris is saying she fixed government by:
• Raising your property taxes,
• Increasing debt liabilities,
• In addition, as chair of the board authorized and approved budgets with millions of dollars still in operating losses that has to be paid for by the taxpayers,
• Believes Big Government is the answer to our health care needs.
———————————————
Sounds like tax and spend Democrat financial policy. Government taxes you and we still have to pay increased debt. Just what we need in Washington, D.C.
Paulina Morris brags, “I’m the only candidate in this race who has fixed broken government”.
Not only did she not fix it, she walked away from the job before it was done.
Too bad, Morris, who has spent most of her career as a government bureaucrat, talks big about accomplishing so little.
Maybe, Big Government taxing us to pay for government run health care is something to brag about for Morris.

Same pictures and same advise from New Times. Now I'm sure of some candidates I WON'T be voting for.
-
08/20/2010 4:56:00 AM
The Thomas team sure attracts undesirables...
-
08/20/2010 4:55:00 AM
Romley has made a great start by cleaning out MCAO. Aubuchon, Alexander, Lottstein - good riddance. That's a good start but their enablers also have to go...
-
08/20/2010 4:51:00 AM
Maglor, I'll make sure to flip the switch if that's who you voted for. Will cancel your votes.
-

That's wouldn't vote for that piece of shit Romley
-
Piss on Romley 08/20/2010 1:21:00 AM
Romley is as dirty as the rest, I would vote for that piece of shit if his life depended on it

AZBorn 08/20/2010 12:09:00 AM
I think this last one we had should be stoned to death in front of city hall by the good citizens of AZ. But we should have a good one to take his place. Not sure Ive seen a good candidate yet.
-
Dezzertguy 08/19/2010 11:45:00 PM
Well this is not surprising. Romley must be shaking in his boots. The commissioner candidates are important and affect our pocketbooks and the future of the state. But, Romley would be a terrible county attorney and should not be supported.
-
SundevilRick 08/19/2010 11:28:00 PM
Experience does not equal being good at the job. Hell McCain is full of experience, or something, and he keeps getting worse at the job.
-
SundevilRick 08/19/2010 11:27:00 PM
Mike how about you keep your opinions to ones about people up for election in your fair state. And sir, John is not a politically correct hack. He is my friend and a great honest man. I would be more than happy to introduce him to you if you come on out to AZ.
-
Steve 08/19/2010 9:03:00 PM
Well, maybe YOUR vote... but what do you know?
-
08/19/2010 5:54:00 PM
Dougherty is the easy one to explain, he's an investigative journalist, and regardless of whether he was accurate or not, the key here is the investigative part, too many politicians are happy to go in the direction the wind blows, or the direction lobbyist pay them to go. If he an maintain his journalistic integrity as a politician, we have someone that's going to vote based on what he believes is right, or best for his constituents, or at least that's what's expected of him, and what i hope he'll do if he manages to make it into office.
-
anyone 08/19/2010 5:45:00 PM
It all sounds very good. Rick Romley is against the practices of Andrew Thomas and Joseph Arpaio. But you would have to guarantee that you will reject and reverse their practices, to gain my vote.
-
Pinkus fingerhut 08/19/2010 5:21:00 PM
romley is gone period,he has had a few months playing his old self and we all see were that is headed. with 70% of arizonian,s favoring sb1070 i find it hard to believe sane people would elect this dinasaur. romley was part of the problem ,you remember when the illegals were running wild here and and now hes back trying to throw road blocks up on all the progress we have made on getting rid of them.
-
Mike_hardesty7 08/19/2010 4:57:00 PM
Lacey, you have no credibility at all. Who cares which politically correct hacks you endorse ? And your about to lose SF Weekly out here after the latest court decision.
-
Coz 08/19/2010 1:44:00 PM
The problem is Michael, the 3 candidates you are endorsing don't have a chance of getting elected, their not corrupt and Arizona only elects the most corrupt.
Regardless, all 3 get my vote.
-
E5282003 08/19/2010 4:30:00 AM
Anyone for Romley, needs to go,and so does he,the hasbeen....
-
yo 08/19/2010 4:19:00 AM
Dougherty, zero experience, absolutely nothing to sell himself, just another journo.
Sorry, he has done absolutely nothing to warrant a vote.
-
No more Thomas pleeeeease! 08/19/2010 1:32:00 AM
Andrew Thomas will be disbarred which means you want a Democrat to be the next Attorney General... think again please.
-
Ross 08/19/2010 12:04:00 AM
Can't we come up with a photo of Romley that is -- well -- less wrinkled?
The flags are wrinkled. The current is wrinkled. His tie is wrinkled. His cheeks are wrinkled.
Or is this some sort of subliminal message?
Anyway, I was surprised that Renz Jenning is still alive. How many decades has it been since he was last elected? Back in the day, he had a reputation as quite a playboy. A personal acquaintance of Mike Lacey? Well, maybe not much has changed.
-
Tony 08/19/2010 12:02:00 AM
Nothing against Dougherty, but I fail to see how his skill as a journalist qualify him for US Senate. You've given compelling reasons why Romley and Jennings are the right choice for their respective positions, so it seems like you're selling Dougherty short by focusing only on his awards as a reporter. Or is that all there is? Your endorsements carry weight with some people - you owe it to the candidates to explain your positons more thoroughly, especially when there are personal relationships involved like the ones you disclosed in your editor's note.
-
Steve 08/18/2010 11:37:00 PM
Barry Wong is VERY WRONG.
-
david saint 08/18/2010 11:27:00 PM
then you can pay for the lawsuits they cause...just saying, you want to vote for them so bad, you can cough up the 50+ million dollars arpaio has cost us tax payers to date..im sick of it!
-
Maglor 08/18/2010 9:57:00 PM
None of these guys have to worry about getting my vote. I will be voting for Jan Brewer, Andrew Thomas, Barry Wong, as well as, all others who voted yes on 1070 or if they are endorsed by Sheriff Joe... It time to make a stand on illlegal immigration!
-
Clarity 08/18/2010 9:56:00 PM
Integrity, honesty, and a genuine interest in serving the people with a strong ethical morality.
That's why Rick Romley is the most deserving candidate for this position.
