Megadeath founder signs confessional memoir

By 1983, Dave Mustaine had been kicked out of Metallica for being a boozy, substance-abusing asshole; bitched to rock magazines that Kirk Hammett stole his job and licks; and then, seeking the ultimate revenge against his former bandmates, created Megadeth.

Mustaine, 49, will sign copies of his confessional tome, Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir, which chronicles "the feud," sliding in and out of rehab, losing the use of his left hand, finding sobriety, and God.

He has definitely chilled out over the years. In 2003, local music producer Catherine Vericolli recounts being blown away while interning at Phase Four -- apparently, while Mustaine was remastering Megadeth's Capitol Record's back catalog, he bought all the interns Pro Tools, which kickstarted Vericolli's own recording business.
