Human connections inspire international art show
Make a dumb comment about your pile of dirty dishes on Facebook and someone living in Brazil might gostar it. (Yes, yes, we know that Brazilians prefer Google’s Orkut, but just play along, okay?)
This hyper acceleration of potential for human connection is what drove curator and fine art consultant Ted Decker to assemble the “Converging Trajectories: Crossing Borders, Building Bridges” exhibit. Through personal travel and ongoing research, Decker found 42 local, national, and international artists to invite. Half the artists call Brazil home, making it the largest collection of Brazilian contemporary art ever shown in the Southwest.
“Artists made the works in this exhibition in response to personal, social, political, and economic issues of the human condition; thereby blurring mapped nationalistic and cultural boundaries,” Decker writes in the exhibition’s text.
