Get your facts straight; the federal probe into Arpaio started in 2008 under Bush. To be bothered by things said in this unfactual article, and support Arpaio and his thugs is illustrative of your leanings, at best, and your lack of knowledge/smarts, at worst.

Hate to break the news, but this country wan't founded on Christianity. It was founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION, you idiot. Also, learn some English (before you most likely demand everyone, immigrants included, speak perfect English). Listen to your line: : These are the things that myself and my fathers fought forI. If you served, I salute and thank you, but please understand you fought for, and not be so offended by someone stopping to pray, as they have for thousands of years. You sound like a nut, by the way.

Talk about confilct of interest! Mayor Gordon has no business talking to anyone involved with the contracts, old or new, beings that He is involved with an employee of that contracting company. This Mayor should be recalled and outsted from Office on grounds of conflict of interest with City contracts and opposion to the AZ SB 1070 Immigration Law, refusing the Public's safety to be protected by the Law Enforcement requirements.
Mayor Gordon, has stated opposion to te AZ SB 1070 Immigration Law on basis of; RACIAL PROFILING and has not, as of this date, provided any evidence that Racial Profiling does currently exist or would exist, has not provided any evidence that there is HATE or Discrimination in this law.

Who paid for his and Mullany's tickets to Super Bowls in Glendale and Miami?
A: Steve Ellman, Elissa Mullany's former boss.
How could he have known the the status of negotiations?
A: Elissa Mullany works for Veolia.
How did he develop the opinion that the city manager needed to get involved?
A: Elissa Mullany told Gordon that the company wasn't getting its way and to ask the city manager to get involved and give out $30M in concessions to retain business with his serial killer "girlfriend's" employer.
Why was he discussing Veolia and ongoing negotiations with the company's lobbyist?
A: Elissa Mullany knew that Billy Shields was a friend of Gordon's and she knew that he could give the company advice on how to strong-arm Phoenix, which he did.

Gee, with all the homeless and jobless in Phoenix metro, Gordon outsources the city transit jobs and privatizes it? I mean, city bus drivers used to be city employees and the buses owned by the city, not by an outside Chicago based company that charges Chicago rates and unionized workers and such. Really, what is going on in that town under Gordon defies imagination to this former long term Arizonan, and no wonder the state is always having budget shortfalls if their "state actor" municipal governments negotiate contracts like these.
-

So, we have worse bus service becsause the Mayor decided screwing his girlfriend wasn't getting it done for him so he needed to screw the citizens of the Valley as well. Gordon seems to have a problem understanding who's money he is dealing with. I do seem to recall and issue with the parking garage across from Chase field and the fact that it sat vacant most days except when the team was playing. (Yes this was a few years ago). Gordon made lit known that this cost the taxpayers nothings as the fees collected from other parking facilitites help cover the operational cost of the parking facility in quesiton. Gordon seems to forget that said money belongs to the city of Phoenix and is therefore taxpayers money. Phil. I quess it is time for you to get your degree from the Bill Clinton University Graduate program in the art of rationalization. You need to be out... really is there anyone of an honest character interested in running for office.

Oh? Do you work at City Hall? Well I have! This City is no better then Chicago or LA. It is run by corrupt politicians who have only one agenda...How can I get some of this money? And, unfortunately, the actions of our elected politicians effect our personal lives and gains. My retirement with the City was just extended for 6 more years due to the pay cuts and furlough days that have been made mandatory by this crook! I work for the Aviation department! We make millions for this City....and why take furlough days when your day off is covered by another employee on overtime? If you think you know what goes on at City Hall, Think again! Your Lost!
-

Give me an example? I work for the City, and this dumb fuck has done nothing for this city except steal your ever increasing tax dollars, make employees take furlough days and wage cuts to benefit his own personal gain! Wake up idiot.....I bet your an Obama fan as well? When you run for public office, it means just that! PUBLIC! All of my records are public, and I am just an employee? So, My hard work and dedication to this City go un noticed while our piece of shit Mayor can reep the benefits of our hard work for a piece of ass.
-
Wannabemobster 09/12/2010 6:20:00 PM
Unfortunately when you run and get elected into public office, you give up your privacy! It is the rights of the tax payers as well as voters to know who is in charge of dispersing the tax funds that you and I pay for. This entire City is run by wanna be mobsters! David Cavasos(City Manager) was caught in the travel gate scandal and promoted to his current position. Danny Murphy was moved to Aviation after running the Water department into the ground. Can you see a pattern? These people need to be exposed for who and what they are, and personal lives have a lot to do with who you are. So your saying that we should not care that our tax dollars are being swindled away by your Mayor to enhance his personal life? You are part of the problem with this country as well as our City. You want closure? Remove the lyres, cheaters and crooks from office! That will put an end to the thievery, for now any way! The City will find another crook to take this ones place! We must stay diligent in our checks and balances with all of our elected officials. If we as constituents don't watch what goes on and keep a blind eye on these people, they will all run amuck! Its the nature of politics!

As if my and every other bus riders experience was not bad enough. Broken down buses and waiting 30 minutes in the heat for a bus that never comes, creating an hour wait. I also had to re-apply for Dial A Ride in July. Thanks a lot, my heart implant and multiple surgeries are enough to deal with and the disruption of service I feel put me at serious risk when it occured on July 26. Maybe I should sue? Haha, I will contact my stable of lawyers. I will note that all the drivers are very friendly and they have a very stressful job and low pay.

Piscesinphoenix 09/11/2010 5:23:00 PM
I don't think they can do their jobs...well, not the job the taxpayers and voters hired them for. They can only do their master's bidding; the folks who bought them. Seems like, since this is Gordito's last term, he's determined to go out in a blaze of scandal and voter hatred and take the city's coffers with him. Where's the public's watchdog in this case? City attorney? County attorney? Is there anyone out there? Anyone?

WOW.....I have been an airport employee for many years as well. I also have been down the road of sweeping things under the rug that aren't conducive to the overall bottom line.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. This department portrays the self appointed "Friendliest Airport"Is this FUCKING disneyland or an International Airport? They have Muslims that are being given asylum and jobs, and we as employees have to be sure as to not offend these people who choose to come here to live. FUCK THEM! This is my country that was founded on Christianity, Equality and PRIDE. These are the things that myself and my for fathers fought and died for. I am a 3 time Purple Heart Veteran of this WAR on Terror. When I was offended by an employee on his knees praying to Allah in a sterile area of the airport. I filled a report with the Aviation Department, to no avail. I was never contacted back in response to my letter of concern. Yet, the Operations Assistant that took my report and submitted my letter was reprimanded for getting involved. What I understand is that the City of Phoenix gets kickbacks from the Government to employ these refugees. So once again, the bottom dollar wins out over your personal safety even after 911! TSA, you ask? Well, at the time I was offended by the prayer, it was exiting a freight elevator on passenger level to grab a bite to eat. When the doors opened, TSA was performing a random inspection point and wanted to pat me down? In front of the door I was exiting was the Muslim behind the TSA on the floor praying? When I had asked if he had been checked, their response was, "after he is done prying"! WHAT? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? This City as well as its leaders need to be taken down before its too late
-

-
wanna be mobster 09/11/2010 4:45:00 PM
Well "Its ALL GOOD, Im going to have to agree with you on this one! I have been an employee of the Aviation Department for years. This Airport is run like its own little city. They have their own personnel department that sweeps many things under the rug. They have their own set of rules and guidelines. If you have an issue with Aviation and try to go to Downtown Personnel for resolution, you will not get it. It will be turned back to the Aviation Personnel Department, head up by the amazingly dis honest, lying, cheating group of individuals you have ever met. Rhonda Wilson being the head of personnel is the biggest lier I have ever seen! She has own set of rules.... This department can try and hide the facts that they are all crooks in this City, but if you pull public records of Phoenix Aviation you will find many grievances pending that have been at the expenses of the Aviation employees. The media would have a field day with the amount of monies that are being diverted away from the workers and into the pockets of the management. Please somebody send channel 15 down to pull these public records and grievances to expose the pieces of shit for what they are...nothing but wanna be mobsters...the only difference is that they are stupid, yet arrogant at the same time! Their day will come soon and a house cleaning will be necessary, Starting with Carl Newman and Rhonda Wilson at the top of the firing list.

So Gordon is turning Phoenix into a Chicago style slum. Mullany sounds like a high priced hooker sort of following the Eliot Spitzer saga, but legitimized by an incompetent City Attorney who thinks Gordon is his only client rather the entire city of Phoenix. Phoenix residents will remember that Phoenix forced a sales tax on food to keep someone from killing Gordon, probably because of his business dealings. Steve Ellman is one of those names like Conley Wolfswinkel and Charles Keating that smell bad because they are bad. Gordon and his crack attorney and the high priced hooker should all be in prison for about 20 years.
-

The firefighters should put these guys in their place. I met their current president and it is obvious that the apple does not fall far from the tree. Very sad.

Great story, Monica.
It sounds to me like Mayor Phil, Phoenix City Attorney Gary Verburg, and Phil's serial-killer "girlfriend" (it looks like she was beaten quite hard with the Ugly Stick) have been asking Sheriff Joe for some advice on how to conceal their city dealings. The Flaccid Fool is happy to comply, at the price of helping Joe get re-elected.
In exchange for Phil providing Veolia, a company which he knew he had a conflict of interest, with advice, he has sex with, and probably pays, that UGLY bitch he calls a "girlfriend" behind the desk in his office. That's why he always looks so disheveled. All those late-night office sex romps gettin to ya, Phil?
Phil's been bought and paid for. We all know it. Thank God after this term, he's done.
Verburg should have reviewed the Veolia contract before the city approved it. He can be sanctioned by the state Bar for this.
Elissa Mullany is a disgusting ugly ass bitch who, with just her picture, nauseates me. She needs to rot in Joe's jails. Wonder how long it'll take for her to get jumped, beaten and shanked?

Arizona has long been an embarrassment when it has come to politics and this is just another chapter. It truly sickens me to hear how the Mayor has acted and surely is still acting. But it sickens me more that people have known what is going on for awhile and yet he is still the Mayor. I totally agree with Rickg1948 Phoenix needs to pull Veolia's contract or at the very least rework it.

-
jayjay 09/10/2010 5:32:00 AM
That is a lot of who/ what/ when/ where but it raises a whole lot of questions about where Gordon's loyalties are.
When Veolia rejected THEIR OWN bid- which is what they did- then it was time to bring in First Transit. The negotiating ended when the bid was put in; failure to research it is not the city's fault.

Chex, about as much good as any other comment on a message board do. By the way, I can't help myself but I think its puerile, neener neener neener!

To have investigative reporting, you have to investigate, not sift through information and then report it in a way that exposes or provide enlightenment, not just in a way that supports your personal contensions. I know something about what goes on in City Hall, and this just is not accurate.

Apparently you do. I don't work with any of them, but know people who do. It's way out of line now, and gone on too long.

Are you kidding? This is a blatant one-sided story basedon "sources". Monica is obviously on a vendetta to attack the Mayor while the serious and complicated job of running transit in Phoenix continues to be underminded by poor reporting.

Monica-the Republic didn't see enough grit to keep you on board. Where are your sources? Quit re-hashing! I like some of your stuff, you are better than this:)
