Cheaper to Keep Her is Je’Caryous Johnson’s comic take on the financial woes of a busted-up marriage. When Raymond and Morgan split, the judge awards Morgan everything -- her ex-husband’s house, his retirement fund, and half his savings. Ray decides he’d better either get Morgan to marry some other guy, or he’ll have to kill her.

The road company of the play, which docks briefly at downtown’s Dodge Theatre, features singer Brian McKnight (The Brian McKnight Show) and Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day; Kill Bill Vol. 1) as the couple who must come to terms with cash and emotions.
