You dont have to pardon the dust any longer at 222 East Monroe Street. Thats because the dramatic changes to Herberger Theater Center are finally done.
In 2006, voters approved a bond that would upgrade the 21-year-old downtown Phoenix performing arts venue. As a result, construction crews didnt just apply a fresh coat of paint. They pretty much went to town.
The $16.6 million revamping includes a partial-exterior facelift to the sides facing Monroe and Van Buren streets. Theres also a feng shui-ing of the joints interior, ranging from a redesigned lobby and green-conscious energy applications to more accessible theaters to beefed-up concessions and box-office capabilities.
Check out the upgraded digs during the Herberger Theater Festival of the Arts, which goes off with tours, performances, live music, film shorts, and grub.
