Ok! It's clear that you're a reviewer that doesn't possess the music history or the time to do research. I won't hold that against you. So let me give you a starting point. I come from Boston, MA – that's right, a town that possesses a rich, deep, and cultural music past. The Pixies, Aerosmith, Boston, J. Geils Band, the Lemon Heads, Morphine, Luther “Guitar” Johnson (Blues Brothers) and too many others to list here. The B52s cut their teeth on the gritty streets of Boston's post punk rock scene.
Located behind the Green Monster (Fenway Park) home of the championship Boston Red Sox – is Landsdowe St. Landsdowe St. represents, at least, 15 Rock and Dance clubs, big and small. The area is refereed to as Kenmore Square or the Fenway. This was home to the B52s.
In the early days, Pat Lyon's http://www.bostonnightclubnews... owner of all clubs on Landsdowe Street hired a little known band – The B52s from Athens, GA. The were a nobody band but yet weren't they all? Some time after that the B52s, I would say at least 8-10 years the B52s produced Cosmic Thing. That got them a Grammy and put them on the Fifth Level or Rock Stardom. They went back to Landsdowe St. that same little bar and sold out in 30 - minutes.
Besides all that – the B52s trumpets one of the best female (Cindy Wilson and Kate Pearson) back up and lead vocals duo ever. They got Pipes. So believe me, it had nothing to do with cartoons or anything else it's just some hard rockin' from a little band out of Athens. This is why they show up every now and then. I never got to see them bet you can better your bottom dollar I'll be a the show on Saturday.
Peace
