What a sad little man this reviewer must be. The night I attended "Light up the Sky" there wasn't a soul who would have agreed with him. For a dated show, it was really quite pleasant. But the abrupt stabs at the director are too vicious not to have some other jealous or petty motive behind them, and the review leaves you wondering if Mr. Pela is a frustrated actor, or a wanna-be director who hasn't been able to find the perfect "mommy Dearest" script for his own debut.
Lighten up a bit, Mr. Pela. If you hadn't been shopping for new lamps and curtains for your studio apartment, you might have enjoyed a very amusing and well directed show.
Thank you, Dr. Thomas. I couldn't agree more. I will not be reading Mr. Pela's reviews for fear I will actually believe them and miss some good theater.
My husband and I have seen the show, and feel that Mr. Pela's review was, as often the case, mean spirited and a failed attempt to be so very urbane and smart. This company has done a fine job of entertaining, and in the final analysis, it seems to me, this is the reason that most people are moved to attend a live performance.
