Unlike all other mainstream sports, where up-close-and-personal access is stupid expensive or crazy off limits, them good ol’ boys aren’t so touchy when it comes to their personal spaces. Now, we’re not saying you can get all up on Bobby and Ricky’s engine blocks, but you can definitely kick it in the pits when NASCAR Weekend posts up at Phoenix International Raceway, 7602 South Avondale Boulevard in Avondale. The gates open at noon Thursday, November 11, for fans who want to get close to the fine tunings and practice runs before the weekend’s main events -- the Lucas Oil 150 at 6 p.m. Friday, November 12; a nationwide series competition at 2:30 p.m. and a pro series race at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 13: and the left-turn granddaddy Kobalt Tools 500 at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 14.
