Queen of the Mountain

Author/climber goes Krakauer in new tome

Climbers don't usually expect to stumble upon 63-year-old human remains on the daunting mountain, K2.

Award-winning author and filmmaker Jennifer Jordan did.

Jordan's newly released The Last Man on the Mountain: The Death of An American Adventurer follows the life of Dudley Wolfe, a wealthy fellah who set out to be the first man to climb K2 back in 1939. Wolfe made it higher than the rest of his expedition, but he never made it back down. Enter Jordan, a writer, filmmaker, and avid climber who lived at the base of K2 twice, where, in 2002, she found Wolfe's remains.
