The deputy is a liar, not because of the article but because he is a cop and that's what they get paid to do. They create crime and criminals and don't care who it affects as long as its not them. Police don't deserve respect and certainly don't care about truth. Read a collection of police reports on the same incident and discover all the contradictions in an attempt to justify their own. From killing citizens to tasering unarmed woman the Police are the true criminals.

Who says we like McCain ? He is a warmonger and is just as much of a Liberal as the likes of Kennedy,Leiberman etc.etc.Kyl same thing,he's lost touch with the people in AZ.Lets get back to the so-called "braindead" Governor.Who got us into this state deficit ? The Liberal Napolitano is who.She incidently is in the Council of Foreign Relations and does not want borders and is all for legalizing Latins that are illegal. So,get your facts straight and in closing, the reason the state has gotten so screwed up,is because all you easterners are moving here. One more thing,in closing,McCain was never in Hanoi Hilton as he claims,he had special treatment because the VC new his father was an Admiral and he is from the liberal state of Ohio.

Sammy boychick, you and all your pals squawk a hell of a lot of complete nonsense, but can never get your facts to match your crazed suppositions. It is really sad that you keep repeating kooky bullshit that has been refuted innumerable times by more than one sane and lucid New Times reader. I'm tending toward thinking you are suffering from early onset Alzhimeriers since you refuse to correct all your ridiculous statements that have all been refuted repeatedly.
-
TeoBuneo 12/11/2010 9:54:00 PM
Forget the Gerbil, a gnat has more of the little grey cells than you possess boychick! Yes I'm sure every law enforcement agency posts their internal affairs investigations online for public comment. You have been banging your noggin on the wall way too much Samson.

How is it that the blood was still wet all that time later? Please fill us in with your brilliant analysis, super.

Al Awbry wrote: "He was obviously trying to intimidate Rubin, Didn't work, asshole."
Rubin and PNT's courage in the face of corruption and personal threats is why the NewTimes dominates the Arizona Press awards year-in and year-out. Judged by their peers, PNT investigative reports are widely acknowledged as truly fair and balanced - those who claim otherwise are typically those trying to intimidate and have something to hide.

Read the story---I just did. Forget your prejudices whatever they are. No one is being accused of anything. This is very straight forward. LOL - brilliant-boy Sampson, what a wonderful understanding of sarcasm you have. Pity, one imagines, all the English teachers who think it pertains to ironical taunts, not dull insults. Thank-you for your continued edification.
-
Julie 12/01/2010 5:11:00 PM
Sampson, the problem with your analogy is that Rubin isn't about saving fave. He's not wrong about Puroll. People in his own office (not Babeu, mind you) know this. The teeshirt analysis proved nothing. The guy lied, and his media-loving boss made hay with it. It's a great undercurrent to the 1070 debacle. But you're right about one thing: Babeu wants it to go away. Otherwise, how could you NOT investigate an unreported deat threat against a reporter. And three meetings with drug kingpins -- also unreported. If I were sheriff, there would be hell to pay for any deputy who violated normal police procedure so blatently.

-
Sampson 12/01/2010 2:30:00 AM
Bravo you guys!!!! Julie and Tommy Collins finally get it :) They put out their opinion, which they are entitled too, as am I and do it in a sarcastic way that is not hurtful. To answer Julie I am really only concerned about the shooting, not what Puroll are at the diner or who he allegedly talk to months after the incident. Puroll is a Barney Fife character..nothing more and nothing less. But I do think his shooting story is correct and the physical evidence backs that up...it really does guys. This is the 2nd stab that Paul Rubin has done at this, the first one miserably striking out. I don't hate Newtimes, just bad reporting where reporters put more emotion that actual reporting into the story. Rubin got embarrassed so he needs to save face, simple as that. Have you read the stories on Phil Gordon by Monica Lonzo. Those are great stories full of facts. Rubin needs to admit he called this one wrong and as dear departed Leslie Nielsen as Frank Drebin used to say ; "Move along folks, nothing to see here, move along..."
-
Tommy Collins 11/30/2010 10:23:00 PM
Julie, it appears the MCSO shurf, you know - that mentally impaired old bastard, has decided he needs to start cleaning up MCSO. He could start at the top, with some shampoo and that would be a great first step. BUT, he only has just over two years left in office. Not enough time to even scratch the surface. He might get Sousa and Palmer to SHOUT OUT for some help. They seem good at that function.
Babeu is busy planning his next media circus. He just wants the Puroll debacle to go away. He used it to it's max when needed and now it needs to be out of sight and out of mind. He may have a VERY LONG way to catch up with some of the corruption in MCSO.
-
LaughingGirl 11/30/2010 8:59:00 PM
ROTFLMAO: you have no idea what sarcasm is - yet you continue to pretend that you do.
Let me help you.
Sarcasm is a a sharply ironical taunt. Ironical statements convey a meaning exactly opposite from their literal meaning.
Your statements contain no irony, they are not sharp (indeed, they are low-brow and dull), so you have no sarcasm.
Still confused? No, of course you aren't, bright boy that you are. ;)

These guys, Sampson and Victory, must be Louie Puroll's gay lovers. Louie = righteous and New Times = evil. Right, guys? Most people in Louie's own department don't believe him. Paul Rubin exposed him as quite the fool. I still don't understand why Sheriff Babeu, if has any ethics at all, hasn't fired Puroll for not reporting that alleged death threat against Rubin and for not reporting that he was meeting with drug lords routinely at the Iron Skillet. The PCSO might overtake the MCSO as Arizona's most corrupt S.O.

Were you born stupid or did you have to practice at it???
Those statements I did make and standby them...so whats the dillio?
I did say "I've never said they (DPS) cleared him."
And I also said "...there ain't none and DPS backs it up."
Both true statments...DPS has never said they (DPS) cleared him and I have never once said they did. And there is no close proximity gunshot residue ("there ain't none) and DPS does back that up....because they found none. So whats the big deal???
You say I don't have a clue what I say or mean??? Talking to people like you coz is like fighting a battle of whits with an unarmed man.

Victory claimed the DPS cleared Purell. The DPS says it didn't. Victory is calling the DPS liars.
Victory is backing the crook, against those who would prosecute the crook.
When you call out the DPS as a liar and support the crook, that makes you anti-law enforcement.
-
TruthOut 11/28/2010 3:08:00 PM
What does SB1070 have to do with him being a liar and a fraud? Just because others used him as a pawn in the SB1070 debate doesn't mean the deputy isn't an opportunist and a publicity seeker.
He's on the record lying about his work history - he's a glory hound who to-date hadn;t found any. Decent people such as you would never act as this man is accused of acting, but that doesn't mean many aren't so inclined. History is full of such hoaxes.
There was no real risk of life - place the nuzzle against the skin and all you take out is the subcutaneous fat.
Yes, the suggestion is that he was wearing his regulation issued top-shirt, as he is ordered to wear, but was never collected at the scene. This is suspicious, and it makes sense.
-
TimMartin 11/28/2010 10:51:00 AM
In other words: when Sampson does it, it's all a good-natured form of sarcasm. When someone mirrors Sampson's writing back to him (as satire) it's offensive. Ignoring your failure to understand sarcasm (seriously, google these terms before you misuse them) the fact that you can't take what you dish out just adds a new pair of adjectives to your CV: hypocrite and cry-baby.
-
Supergye 11/28/2010 12:22:00 AM
Why would Puroll shoot himself:?
-He is against SP1070.
-He would get no benefit from shooting himself. Its
not like his job depends on the SP1070 law passing or not.
-Why risk your life, and a potential scar just to make a political
statement about immigrants? Most want to do something about it already.
-No gun residue found on blood shirt. Even though 6 hours of the shirts
custody were unaccounted for, how would one remove gunpowder residue
while leaving the blood intact? Are you suggesting a different shirt
was worn? So he had to hide the shirt from his co-workers 80 minutes
after getting airlifted out. That makes no sense.
-As to the gun firing with a GPS, phone, and gun held...this is easily
explained by having a phone and GPS holster...the timing of each
event may not be exactly as Puroll said the second time which is due
to witness memory fatigue...I personally can't remember what I ate
for breakfast yesterday.

-
Sampson 11/27/2010 7:29:00 AM
Good points...I think your wrong though about county employees not belonging to unions or rarely. As for DPS "clearing" Puroll, Id invite you to review my previous blogs. I've never said they cleared him. Your getting me confused with someone else. What I have consistently said is the DPS analysis showed no evidence of a close proximity gunshot wound. That is consistent with what PCSO and Puroll has been saying. Your comment about "Hammering on the source" of the info...if in my opinion the "source" is wrong then why not...isn't that what a blog is for. New Times does put out some quality work. Monica Lonzo's articles on Phil Gordon are great and backed up with fact. Last thing...in all honesty I don't get the electrician thing? I guess your trying to be sarcastic or say something funny but its not working and I don't get it.

Teo 11/27/2010 2:51:00 AM
Sad, sad, Sammy, simply can not refrain from repeatedly demonstrating his complete inability to think a problem through logically and respond rationally rather than emotionally. Sammy decided that Louie the liar, whom he mistakenly perceived as an obviously honest fellow, is being wrongly besieged by the evil "New Times" and other media outlets who are simply doing their unappreciated jobs. Sammy totally discounts any and all facts that conflict with the nonsense concocted by admitted fantasist Louie Puroll. Anyone believing Mr. Puroll's tales is predisposed to accepting complete fabrications based on nothing more than self assured manner in which liar Louie shares his "fantasy". So sad Sammy's so simply suckered!
-
Hock 11/27/2010 2:25:00 AM
That's because he's a liar.
-
Teo 11/27/2010 12:41:00 AM
You really are a sad case there sammy boy! The Steve Nash spoof has been explained to you several times, but you're so damn slow that it still hasn't registered in that pea brain of yours even days afterward. How would anyone expect you to understand the DPS saying that they most certainly have not cleared Puroll? Every time you post a comment you demonstrate your complete inability to think, logically, rationally or seemingly any other way. Do you even know the meaning of the word satire Sammy?
-
Teo 11/26/2010 11:42:00 PM
We have a name for Bullshit artists like Puroll out here on Arizona ranches, Liar! It fits the arrogant asshole like a glove!
-
Tommy Collins 11/26/2010 11:08:00 PM
Sampson, why do you keep hammering on the source of the information? If you don't like what you read here, simply stop reading here.
I seriously doubt Pinal S.O. employees are a part of any union. Most county departments don't get involved with unions, however you can feel free to give them a call and ask. No, I haven't seen the Internal Affairs report. I've just read bits and pieces about the result of the investigation, which makes me believe it is just a puff piece to formalize the shooting.
Most departments have operation policies that say when officers are allowed to work solo and such. Most departments don't let their employees work as Puroll seems to.
I have to wonder if Puroll is the equivalent of the postal employee who walks around doing his own thing and his supervisors are afraid to confront him for fear or injury or death.
I have worked with a couple cops over the years that seem eerily similar to Puroll. I can tell you from my perspective they were dangerous people and not the kind most taxpayers hope to have protecting them. Again, just my opinion. But every time I read detailed information about how the guy operates it makes me shiver. I am going to assume PCSO didn't have Puroll spend time with a psychologist before returning to work after the 'shooting' incident. That is what professional law enforcement agencies would require. Thus, I don't expect it from PCSO.
Imagine being a professional law enforcement officer working at PCSO and having to work with a 'cowboy cop' like Puroll.
Again, ONE more time, Sampson. DPS DID NOT CLEAR PUROLL.
("We don't, quote, clear people," DPS Sergeant Kevin Wood, a spokesman, told me later. "The findings are what they are. To say that we cleared the deputy is inaccurate.")
Sampson, you're not really an electrician, are you?
-
Sampson 11/26/2010 7:20:00 PM
Awh...boy that one was out there Tim. I may not necessarily agree with Victories writing style but the substance of what he is saying is correct. Just like cops say all the time; "Move along, nothing to see here...move along." Some how you twisted that to mean he's anti-law enforcement...shewwww thats a stretchhhhhhhhhhh. Victory is clearly NOT anit-law enforcement and your Jedi Mind Tricks won't work here; "Move along, these are the droids you're looking for." :)
-
Sampson 11/26/2010 5:07:00 PM
When I first heard he was in the desert himself "hunting" drug smugglers by himself I had serious questions about that myself. However, is it normal??? Does any other deputy do that??? If you don't trust the sheriff for the answer, why didn't anyone ask the union if this is common practice for their members. I think its not safe but at the same time before I start accusing a law enforcement officer (with an apparent unblemished record) of being in cahoots with drug smugglers I'd like to get some more info. Also, have you seen the Internal Affairs Report? Is it posted on line some where? Just because it does support your beliefs (apparently unsubstantiated beliefs) doesn't mean it was "smoke and mirrors" unless you have seen the report...right??? People blog that Puroll must have been smoking weed, is associated with drug dealers, is lying, is corrupt, is covering things up...all based from information supplied by a weekly news magazine (paper) that also swore Steve Nash was leaving the Suns and his last game would be Nov. 15th. There is some suspicious actions/activity in this case I admit but as far as stone cold facts that something illegal occurred...there ain't none and DPS backs it up.
-
Tommy Collins 11/26/2010 3:21:00 PM
Dennis, funny you should say that. I am still in awe that any law enforcement agency would allow a single deputy, knowingly, to go into the desert alone, without cover or supervision, to 'hunt' smugglers. Babeu should have been taken to task for this, as well as Messing, but the issue became whether Puroll was actually shot by someone else. In the mean time there was a smoke and mirror internal 'investigation' to clear Puroll for shooting his guns in the desert. The investigation should have been on policy violations of Puroll going into the desert and putting himself in harm's way (his story) for no good reason.
Yes, the outcome seems to be a complete whitewash by Babeu. He has copied the MCSO policy, "We are NEVER wrong, even when we do something that isn't right".
The two infamous sheriffs of Arizona, The Flaccid Fool of MCSO and Little Joe of PCSO. Both apparently mentally ill in one form or another.
-
Tommy Collins 11/26/2010 3:13:00 PM
Just curious, Chaplain, what exactly are you talking about?
-
Sampson 11/26/2010 2:01:00 PM
LOL..."we've detected"...its a conspiracy I tell you!!!!! :) You guys must take breaks in between playing Dungeons and Dragons to blog comments here. However, I do admit there what you call hostility I call sarcasm. My posts are rife with sarcasm, including this one. What I don't put down (and you won't find) are personal attacks on people. Yes, I may say some people have there face buried up some ones ass or they must be smoking crack to blog what they did, but I don't do personal attacks on family, drop F-bombs, or S-bombs. Calling me a "sociopath" is acceptable sarcasm..kinda dumb...but acceptable. Even saying I can't get a "normal" girlfriend is fine which in reality is true...is there really any woman who is "normal?" Besides, my wife might get upset if I tried.
-
11/26/2010 6:02:00 AM
I think Purroll smokes too much of the desert weed himself, watched Men who Stare at Goats one time too many and eventually will convince himself (and that sweet lil waitress at the truck stop) that he is, in fact, John Wayne.
The bottom line is Arizona's Sheriff Departments are all a bit wacky and too Hollywood for real police work anymore. They all took a lesson from Arpaio and are busy getting make-overs and sporting Stetsons instead of tracking bad guys, serving warrants and cleaning house.
-
TimMartin 11/26/2010 4:38:00 AM
Someone slept through class the day satire was explained?
-
TimMartin 11/26/2010 4:36:00 AM
The DPS explicitly states it did not clear the deputy. This is made clear to you in the article and in several posts. Nonetheless you push forward with your false claims. I have to ask: why do you hold the DPS in such contempt? The DPS says it did not clear the man, you state it did - you are essentially calling the DPS a bunch of liars. What is it about law enforcement that drives you to call them liars?
You anti-law enforcement types are always rooting for the crook and never take the side of the honest cop. It's just sad that decent cops must be subjected to the mendacious claims from the likes of you.
-
TimMartin 11/26/2010 4:26:00 AM
Fair enough, but we've detected a little hostility towards fact and reason in your posts. BTW: does your sociopath personality interfere with you getting a normal girlfriend.

Hey Jack pull your head out of the New Times ass for a change. The New Times makes shit up and never ever does any homework before posting a story. The DPS did clear, despite what this rag says, Puroll of any wrong doings. Now you guys come up with, well where is his uniform shirt bullshit. He never had one. And if the shot was self done or done by another officer at close range there would be gun powder all over that shirt. And why would a veteran officer risk his life with a gun shot to make it look like the drug cartel did it? Nobody is that stupid to risk taking their own life. Try using logic instead of fear to make a rational decision about this. The New Times promotes hate and fear and then turns it around on those that are trying to protect us. Quit being a sheeple to these assholes.
-
Victory 11/25/2010 4:16:00 PM
TC,
You guys really are grasping at straws now. It's becoming very pathetic. If you knew anything about the missions that they go on down there alot of times they don't wear their uniforms for the fact that it makes them stand out even more. They either were tactical gear or camoflauge. You and the New Times really need to switch gears and quit this. There is nothing there. There never has been and there never will be.

Sampson 11/25/2010 5:25:00 AM
Well, first of all I was taking to Tommy Collins but to answer your question, I stated personal attacks are wrong but I also said I like a little sarcasm (something you conveniently left out). Making humorous comments like ankle monitoring bracelets (like I said about you) or me being an electrician (said by Tommy Jones) is just good natured shots (man-up). But comments like "your a piece of shit" or "your a fucking idiot" or comments about peoples wives of family of bloggers is uncalled for and that is what I mean by a "personal attack" because its "personal"...duh. By the way "duh" isn't personal either :)
-
Rcrowell12 11/25/2010 4:51:00 AM
Almost forgot. No criminal convictions. No ankle bracelet. Life is good and make almost rock star money. Just have an ability to think. Sorry to disappoint you. Happy Thanksgiving
-
Rcrowell12 11/25/2010 4:41:00 AM
So to quote your post "People who repeatedly curse and attack on a personal level to get back at fellow bloggers are weak." But that just what you have done. If you think you are a smart person feel free to play verbal chess on a logical level. Just a test...you do understand the irony of accusing others of personal attacks they haven't made about other peoples posts while you then proceed to make a personal attack? Nothing personal but would you like irony defined?

I feel like this is a re-run of "What's My Line" and I'm being asked questions from Kitty Carlisle. Hmmmm are you a famous person? Are you a movie star or a singer? Well maybe not Kitty, how about Soupy Sales...thats fits you better. In all seriousness, you're entitled to your opinion as I am mine. I heard a saying once that goes like this "If you hear hoof beats...look for horses and not zebra's." In other words the simple, logical answer is usually the correct answer. I've never met Puroll in my life and do not work for PCSO. When New Times first suggested the gunshot residue on the shirt maybe at close range I was intrigued. But when DPS came back and said everything was consistent with Puroll's story I was done with this. The New Times article is full of "what ifs" "maybe's" "appears to be" and things like that. In reality there is very little fact if you look at it honestly. However Tommy an "electrician" jab is fun and maybe even deserved. I like sarcasm when its warranted. People who repeatedly curse and attack on a personal level to get back at fellow bloggers are weak minded. Take care...see ya on the next story...maybe we'll even agree :)

Heated fecal matter can combust spontaneously. I would imagine there is plenty of fuel in Mr. Puroll's life.
-
Tommy Collins 11/25/2010 3:08:00 AM
Sampson, you're not really an electrician are you? At least, not anymore.
-
Tommy Collins 11/25/2010 2:54:00 AM
Point of clarification, Victory. Puroll wasn't cleared by DPS and DPS made that VERY clear. They simply reported no gunshot residue on the t-shirt. Which means Puroll was likely wearing his uniform shirt, which is nowhere to be found. If he provides a uniform shirt, unlaundered, his size, with an apparent bullet hole, for testing he could gain some credibility. At this point it appears he's just another liar with a badge, just like your hero, the Flaccid Fool of MCSO. Being followed closely by Babeu, aka Little Joe.

Ouch!!!! I'm detecting a little hostility towards law enforcement. By the way, does the monitoring bracelet on your ankle for your house arrest conviction interfere with your internet?

Here's a suggestion Jack, nest time you blog, refrain from smoking crack. Let me get this straight, by your own statements "Everybody with half a brain takes New Times deadly serious" yet later you state "The Steve Nash story was satire fool?" So which is it, deadly serious or satire. Maybe for you it depends if and when your crack high wears off? The DPS Crime Lab was asked to do a gunshot residue test of Puroll's shirt based off of half baked accusations from New Times who showed pictures...mind you pictures...to a forensics expert in another state who said it "appeared" as if the shirt had a close proximity gunshot residue mark. And what was DPS's findings...NOPE NOT THERE. So Rubin screwed that one up...thats a fact. It was not DPS's job to clear Puroll only to analyze the shirt to see if their findings confirmed what both Pinal County Homicide Investigators and Pinal County Internal Affairs investigations revealed...that Puroll was truthful and that is exactly what the DPS analysis showed. Now the "so called evidence was obviously removed." Nice...when things don't add up to your version of events or Rubin's we'll just say that someone must have moved it without any evdience. Now here's a good one..."why wasn't Puroll wearing his uniform shirt?" Did Rubin ever inquire if this was the "norm" for deputies working the area? I mean he is a reporter right? Did he speak to the union representatives and say "is this normal for your members?" Is it normal...I don't know and neither do you. Puroll does have a few questions about his actions I admit but come on, does he remind you of Sherlock Holmes or Barney Fife? The guy is a street cop, probably always has been, he's not the cream of the detectives unit for PCSO. Should he have reported the threats and contacts? Sure but the mere fact that he is discussing them shows me he's not lying...maybe just slow. And being slow doesn't make you some sort of a super sleuth that staged a drug rip off and shot himself then conveniently staged the scene. In reality he's just a country deputy sheriff doing his job. One more thing, does crack make you say "fool, fucking idiott (by the way idiot only has one "t") half brain, butt-buddies, retard, swashbuckling past (one to many late night Erroll Flynn movies on AMC) and ass" a lot or is that just the way you write to avoid your little man syndrome :)

This piece of lying filfth ought to be in jail. But then jail here in Arizona is for innocent people, not the lying sociopathic people that pass for law enforcement personnel here in Raceland.
-
Hock 11/24/2010 8:56:00 PM
Wow...Puroll's pants are certainly on fire.

Screwy Louie also said it was tough to find shell casings in the desert. Whadda buncha crap. A brass casing, in the sun, on flat, baked desert sand, with no vegetation or leaf litter to conceal it, is EASY to find. It's probably the EASIEST place to spot a casing. Go out in the desert where folks have been shooting and tell me if brass casings are hard to find.

Pinal County said from the start that it was a marked patrol vehicle. I remember that specifically. Someone is wrong here, and I'm betting on the cops (being wrong, that is)

Victory, you're a fucking idiott. Everybody with half a brain takes New Times deadly seriously. Victory obviously doesn't have half a brain OR he's Louie Puroll or Paul Babeu or one of their butt-buddes. The Steve Nash story was satire, fool. This story is not. The DPS HARDLY cleared Puroll (did you read this story, retard? The DPS says right in it that it didn't clear Puroll). Also, that so-called evidence was obviously removed from the actual shooting, or covered up by exterior clothing. I mean, why wasn't Puroll wearing his uniform shirt? What happened to his uniform shirt. Fishy as hell, along with a lot of other things in this case. NOW, we find out that Puroll was repeatedly contacted by drug lords, and by a "friend" who offered to kill NT reporter Paul Rubin -- and he didn't report any of this to his superiors???!!!. The latter stuff alone should be enough to bounce Louie from the Purile County Sheriff's Office. Obviously, from all the lies he told Rubin, the guy craves attention. I'll bet almost none of what he told Rubin about his swashbuckling past is true. Maybe Rubin's next task should be to background check his ass.

Victory 11/24/2010 4:27:00 PM
How EFFIN pathetic can you morons be? You are searching for something that isn't there. He was cleared by another law enforcement agency, one who can't stand any sheriff employees, and yet you still come up with these insane accusations. The problem with New Times is you guys can never admit when you are wrong so you continue to drum up bullshit stories about stupid shit that doesn't exist. Just like the Steve Nash story. Even Nash himself came out and said your article is total bunk. The problem is your reporters over there never do any real investigative work or homework and just go off the first thing that someone tells you. That is why you are the laughing stock of local news sources. No one takes you seriously especially when most of the ads in your paper are for escort services or strip clubs. But I do have to admit it is kind of enjoyable to come on here and read the latest fiction article. Most of the time your conspiracy theories bring a good laugh to me and my friends.

I don't understand something ,he , being a cop is offered a bribe from cartel guys. and doesn't report them or arrest them ? then somebody else ( a Hispanic, why would he mention his race ? ) tells him he wants the reporter killed , and he doesn't arrest him ? Something is wrong here...now judging from his wound , if the other guy was shooting from downhill , the wound would not be like that ,unless he had his back to them...
That deputy opened a new can of worms ,and I hope Rubin goes after that... The deputy is just another bigot , trying to cash in, and get on the spotlight....
-
TimMartin 11/24/2010 1:08:00 PM
This is an awesome story - simply fantastic writing. You start off giving the deputy some new credit as only his side is being told, and then, using just the simplest of prose and most direct of narrative, the officer is foiled by himself. No reporter laying a trap, just the officer admitting that he is bad cop and a great story teller.
Three times, his story goes, drug lords approached him at a diner, but he neither arrested them nor filed a report. Imagine how much intelligence could have been gained if after the second approach the department had prepped him to arrest upon the next encounter. Even if we assume his story is true, the deputy is revealed as a lazy cop with bad judgment.
Then, we have his malfeasance in not arresting a man offering to commit murder. Again, no arrests, no reports. Imagine if the hit had occurred, would he have stepped forward then? Again, if we accept the story is true, the deputy is revealed as a lazy cop with bad judgement.
Finally, he brags about his ability to tell stories - I love his false claim to having shot someone before, despite all his agency records demonstrating he had not.
Brilliant reportage!

You're right. New Times has a reputation of getting to the truth even when others don't want to believe it. Just look at the Steve Nash story (setting sun). Im mean right now Steve must be enjoying his new Canadian home and getting ready to run for Prime Minister and thats his clone still playing...LOL

Jglenn 11/24/2010 12:14:00 PM
hey coupla thoughts from an old time ranger who used to (maybe still does ) patrol the vekol area; firstly everyone ought to understand every seasoned cop knows how a shooting scene is going to be processed, no troop is going to make the egregious error of shooting himself and then describe it as 25 yards out.
Secondly; no troop is going to engage a group of smugglers alone.
Thirdly; this was not LP's beat he came over from the Oracle (Tucson) area.
The simplest explanation for all of this is LP was there to ripoff a drugload, got caught up in an exchange of gunfire, took a hit, knew it was superficial and waited concocting his final details before calling out his "triple 9" meanwhile the sicarios melted into the landscape.
What is very interesting is the later 2 mex men that were murdered ... did ole louie have them whacked to lend credence to his tale??? Whose voices are on the 911 tapes?
Hopefully some acoustic analysis is being done on the original tapes too :
Tom if youre our ex cty atty, thank you for your service & dedication to the truth.

I know everybody's got an opinion, especially when they don't have to give their real names, but what about this? I don't give a shit about Louie Puroll or New Times or Paul Rubin or Paul Babue. I like reading a good story when I have time. This was a fucking great story. Bye

Prove this guy to be a liar. Demand a police report be filed on the death threat. Solicitation for capital murder must be a crime,no? When the coward can't come up with the name of the man whom he claimed offered to kill you, then we will know one of two things: he's a liar who is a bad cop, or he is a bad cop who covers for criminals.
No more spin from the masterful stroyteller -- just do or don't. Uphold the law, arrest the man who solicited capital murder, or don't.

Tommy Collins 11/24/2010 4:37:00 AM
The t-shirt examination showed little or no presence of gun powder residue. That, in and of itself, indicates the t-shirt was a bottom layer of clothing. There likely was at least another shirt over the t-shirt, such as his uniform shirt, which most uniformed officers wear.
Again, why would any agency knowingly allow a deputy to schlep after smugglers by himself? The guy went out there alone, called into dispatch and said he was following smugglers, but don't send any help. Then supposedly got into a firefight, got a graze wound, and the smugglers ran away. Hollywood. Simply Hollywood.
The guy says helicopters don't work to find smugglers, yet when I rode with the Mesa P.D. chopper we saw people on the ground, day and night, very well.
Methinks Mr. Puroll has a vivid imagination.
I am friends with people who were seriously involved in shootings in the military and in police careers. They don't seem to need to brag about it. Nor do they pontificate publicly about how recently they've been shot.
Methinks Mr. Puroll is mentally ill. Just like the MCSO sheriff.

Dear Sampson---Hi Rusty (be more careful next time)
-
Tommy Collins 11/24/2010 4:28:00 AM
Larry, I will disagree with you. I've seen a number of objectively reported articles in the New Times regarding law enforcement. I honestly don't think they pick and choose and report only the worst. Many times the law enforcement folks create their own destiny, and media are there to report on the trip.
I hope you can understand what has been read to you.
-
Al Awbry 11/24/2010 4:23:00 AM
New Times and Rubin won't say they're wrong because they're not wrong. Guys like Sampson are the ones who have their heads so far up Paul Babeu's ass that they can suck on his tongue. You Puroll apologists are pitiful. You're probably lying, racist cops yourselves. Doubt you got to the end of the story (you probably read at a first-grade level), but the sack of shit Puroll actually threatened that one of Puroll's friends wanted to kill Rubin. What kind of ethical policeman does something like that. Puroll didn't even report this to his bosses. He was obviously trying to intimidate Rubin, Didn't work, asshole.
-
TruthOut 11/24/2010 4:22:00 AM
You're lying, Sampson. No one claimed the shirt would prove anything. It was written that the analysis could provide key information and that the failure to provide a timely analysis forever tainted any result. The pressing for the analysis was to see what would come.
No predictions were made. No one was proved dead wrong.
Except you - you were proven both dead wrong and a naked liar.
How can anyone trust anything you write when you can't even comprehend what you read?
-
11/24/2010 4:19:00 AM
Report the news, not distort the news!!!!!!!
-
Sampson 11/24/2010 3:31:00 AM
Yeah he just loves cops...just ask Puroll and Rusty Stuart. The only cops he loves is the Phoenix PD Homicide Unit that investigated the Baseline Killer case. He was actually "embedded" with them and has his face buried so far up their ass that he has to light his nose on fire to smoke a cigar. And why???? I hear tell that he is writing a book on the Baseline Killer case. I put my money on Monica Alonzo...she seems to be the better reporter.
-
Tommy Collins 11/24/2010 3:25:00 AM
If Puroll was being marketed at a department store he would be featured in the appliance section as a "Spinmaster Deluxe". If that guy could spin his stories any better he could get an immediate lateral transfer as a chief deputy for MCSO. I hear their current CD isn't working these days.
Good article, Mr. Rubin. I have reached the point where I don't believe a damn thing the guy says. I have worked with, and investigated, too many just like him in days past.
One untruth after another after another, just to keep trying to cover the last untruth. Pretty soon they've told some many lies they don't know what the original truth actually might have been.
Sad stuff, Mr. Puroll. Maybe it's time to round up the Flaccid Fool of MCSO and take a retirement trip. I hear Honduras has some special entertainment for county cops.
Sheesh...

Hey Fake Name---I've been reading the guy's stories for years in the liberal New Times. He's the go-to guy for the COPS. They trust him and have told their stories to him for a long time. He gets ragged on for being a cop-lover, big law enforcement guy. How about if you just read the f-ing story for what it is and don't shoot the messenger, pun intended
