Mistah F.A.B.

If you happen to see any driverless cars rolling by with people dancing on the hood, don't be too alarmed. It's just a few fools doing their best imitation of "ghost riding," the act of automotive jackassery invented by Oakland hip-hop star Mistah F.A.B.

Introduced to the world by the rapper's 2006 song "Ghost Ride It" (which laid out, step by step, how to practice the act), it's become a popular stunt amongst suburbanite white kids, hip-hop fans, military misfits, and even a grandparent or two. Hopefully no one will be pulling out any ghost riding in the parking lot of Club Trinity in Scottsdale, where Mistah F.A.B. will be appearing this weekend.

The joint's weekly Celebrity Saturdays party will host a Backpack Party this Saturday that promises a performance by F.A.B. and local artist West Craven (who used to bomb around the Bay Area himself). DJ Phlava from 101.5 Jamz will be on the decks throughout the night and a number of $5 drink specials will also be served.
Sat., Jan. 29, 9 p.m., 2011
