It’s cool, though. We’ll take it as well as the First Friday Black History Month Celebration at the Downtown Civic Space Park, 424 North Central Avenue. The outdoor public park is the spot to check out the shebang that goes off with live dance by Xango, hands-on community art making, and music performances by Kunesha Walker, Shining Soul, and Spooky Cool. The evening will also feature guest speaker Lasana Hotep, a heavy hitting “thinker/solutions expert” who schools folks with quick-witted multi-media presentations, as well as information about homegrown orgs such as African American Men of ASU and Phoenix Youth at Risk.
