A Clockwork Forage

Fans of steampunk swear that the genre is based on literature that merges steam-powered technology, science fiction and Victorian fashions, such as H.G. WellsThe Time Machine and Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. We’re more inclined to believe that gearheads with a penchant for deconstructing clocks and chicks who wore long skirts long before Vogue dictated they were back in fashion needed a socially acceptable way to express their quirks.

See for yourself at Alwun House’s “Intertemporalist Steampunk Exposition,” opening with a masquerade ball and Wild West Saloon Show featuring Provocatease, DJ-MX, and the Bedoin Tribe dancers.

Artwork on display includes Steve Gompf’s antique televisors, Edward Schenck’s amazing handmade steampunk props, and model airships cobbled together from junkyard scraps no one else had the imagination to use.
