The Colt Peacemaker, a .45-caliber single action revolver, is often touted as the gun that won the West. At Pravus Gallerys Peacemakers show, however, six local artists have replaced the renowned revolvers six metallic cartridges and are hell-bent on a shootout of a more artistic nature.
Featuring found-object painter Colton Brock, Converse shoe artist J.J. Horner, photographer Charles Darr, painter Randal Wilson, and Native American artists Doug Miles and Thomas Breeze Marcus, the shows eclectic lineup of six locals means an artistic myriad of media for a wide range of tastes. And thanks to Pravus expansive floor space, gallery goers can ogle the artwork without fighting for a decent view.
Give Peacemakers a chance through April 30 at the gallery, which is located at 501 East Roosevelt Street. Hours on Friday, April 22, are noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Saturdays, 12-4 p.m. Starts: April 23. Continues through April 30, 2011
