1. They'd pay taxes if the process wasn't so long and burdensome and expensive to become a citizen.
2. You should talk to your government about taxes.
3. You should talk to your government about taxes (yes repeated on purpose).
4. Sales tax is a tax.
5. Though you think you may know, understand, and slightly emphathize with the circumstance, you really have no idea of the complexities.
6. Think about it. People want to live a good righteous, fear-free life, why the hell would they intentionally avoid paying taxes.
7. At the end of this story, all you really thought of was that they didn't pay taxes????

This IS our own back yard, idiot. We had MORE of a life before we had to start supporting all these illegals (how many do YOU know who pay for all the babies they have in this country?) We ARE worrying about our own "DAMN SELVES." That's why we are standing up and fighting. And as for your name? I don't think there is much "Ameri-CAN" about you.

Frustrated 06/05/2011 6:53:00 AM
I'm glad they got their legal residency. But I'm sick and tired of all the illegal immigrants blaming everyone but themselves. Hey kids, wanna get an answer to why your life is so hard? Ask Mom and Dad! They made that choice for you. At least these folks have been trying to make it legal....unfortunately, there are too many who really don't care about trying. They just want us to change and allow them here, because millions have forced themselves illegally into this country and now demand their "rights."
Here's another thing. They have been here for EIGHTEEN YEARS and the mother doesn't speak english??? But now that she's legal she wants to learn and wants to teach preschool??? Why hasn't she felt the need in 18 years to learn the language? I'm sure her lack of the language just put more of a burden on the father, as she certainly couldn't help her english speaking children with their education, homework, etc.
Give me a break.

theyve been here 18 years and she wants to learn english better? one owul d think in 18 years theyd all be able to speak english
i really dont understand how someone can come here illegally and stay here while they try to become citizens.

You are a pathetic hater. Your hate doesn't make anything better. This country was once great not because we tried our best to "close" the border but, because we as a nation said:
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

I like how you call regular Americans "scum of the earth" for their crimes, and then turn around and say "everyone has sinned", therefore its okay for illegals to break the laws in America. It's as if you justify crime after condemning everyone else for committing one.
I'm glad they have a chance now. So should everyone break the laws first, and then apply for citizenship? I'm not sure if you know, but Amercia has a finite (that is, limited) number of jobs, resources and opportunities.
Ilegals don't care about that. They care about themselves and "making life better for them", NOT the general welfare of the country. No matter how you dice it, that's not appealing to Americans.
And yes, I have gotten a speeding ticket, and was convicted. So now that I've paid the price for my crimes, would you say that others should also pay the price for their crimes?
I look forward to your answer, although I'm pretty sure you won't respond.

LOL..@ Editors of the Newspaper". Well..im guessing he used someones identity if he was illegal to be in the USA. There for screwed someones taxes and life up.Everyday someones attitude changes toward the immigration debate, due to the fact that their lives have been screwed up by an illegal alien stealing their identity i.e Social Security Number".Weather you are brown, white , black etc..living in the USA- because your an American Citizen..at some point you will be a victim.I'm not a big fan of Arpio, but i know when he leaves office..The Cartel will take over and we'll be back where we started again with the violence and thievery.Atleast he has the Balls to do something about it. That is all".

Regarding your bank robbery analogy there are statutes of limitations on crimes, for better or for worse. So it's quite possible that you actually wouldn't be tried for the crime even though you technically were guilty. I wouldn't know the details though, for I'm not a lawyer nor a criminal.
While you personally may not like tattoos, there are many people from all walks of life that do. You personally seem to hold engineering above art (which his work truly is... I'd love to see you do anything close to what he does). That's your opinion. Many others value art. Would you rather he be using his artistic ability with graffiti on the streets?

Your very attitude and usage of certain words betray not only a certain mentality but your very limited amount of time on this planet. The following is an attempt to adequately respond to some of your questions that should have obvious answers:
The reason that everyone does NOT as you put it, "sit here and [b_tch] about all the LEGAL murderers and child molesters that your [OUR] so-called precious tax-dollars support every" year is simply because that's NOT the subject of this article.
Secondly, we DO handle the situation with the type of LEGAL people you refer to by giving them an opportunity to go to court and if found guilty, pay the consequences. Sometimes those consequences consist of jail/prison time. Still, these LEGAL people are OUR OWN people that WE have the responsibility of dealing with. It is NOT our responsibility to deal with the problems of people that don't belong here. It is however, OUR AUTHORITY to deal with them accordingly when they INVADE/TRESPASS or break any of our laws.
The same can be said of a young female U.S. Citizen who is irresponsible and keeps on getting pregnant, but cannot afford to properly take care of her OWN offspring nor does she exhibit the desire to do so. It is NOT a LEGAL responsibility of GRANDMA/GRANDPA or other relatives to deal with her situation. They can choose to do so, if they so desire, but they are NOT legally obligated to. One might argue that it is an ETHICAL issue requiring attention. I might agree with that. However, the issue before us (ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION), is PRIMARILY a LEGAL one and not necessarily an ethical one. When we, as a community, or members of our own government take it upon ourselves to personally assist or pass legislation to assist a woman as described above, we do so out of an ethical mindset, not a legal one. Even when we pass laws for these purposes, there are limitations set forth as to how far we can assist such people. This is to prevent abuse as well as to discourage poor decision-making. Turning Mexico into the 51st State of the Union is NOT a solution to Mexico's problems. We have laws regarding foreign aid, but like any laws regarding the usage of taxpayer dollars, there are regulations (as there should be), as to how these monies are to be dispersed.
The failure of ILLEGAL Immigrants to acknowledge these laws as well as the failure of OUR own government to abide by the limitations inherent in these same laws is at the very heart of the ANTI-ILLEGAL Immigration stance that the majority of U.S.Citizens have finally decided to take, particularly in the State of Arizona, where the problem has reached epic proportions that not only require, but demand that action be taken to eliminate the problem (not ignore it), before we end up in a civil war.

Readers take note: On 06-20-11, on line three of my comment to an individual going by the screen name of "the sheriff can suck it" I incorrectly cited "Jhgh" as the person was responding to. It is interesting to note that when I copied and pasted this persons screen name it came up as, "the sheriff can suck it [Moderator]" without the quotation marks of course. Question: How did the word "moderator" get in there? Is this an employee of NEWTIMES or a personal friend of Andrick Aviles in disguise? I have since corrected my typo and hereby re-submit my comment...
Shame, shame Andrick. After reading more about your story, I was beginning to have more compassion towards you and your family. By siding with this rebellious, big-mouthed, reverse-bigot who calls himself "the sheriff can suck it [Moderator] ", you have simply reinforced what the MAJORITY (yes the majority), of U.S. Citizens think about ILLEGAL immigrants and how these immigrants behave once you give them a break by granting them naturalization. Despite how some people may view your case as a victory for whatever, the truth is that in the next few years, you are going to see laws that are going to have a much more negative impact on ILLEGAL immigrants. I, for one, support tougher laws, and I am an Hispanic-American Citizen.
Do your best to prove us wrong. Seriously. Pay your taxes. Stay away from groups that promote ILLEGAL immigration. Pledge allegiance to the country that mercifully granted you amnesty, naturalization, or whatever, but not to Mexico and its inhabitants. (Mexico needs to fix its own problems.) Be a U.S. American Citizen first, then a Latino second. Support OUR laws, protecting OUR country and OUR citizens, not people who want to be here illegally. Arizona's SB 1070 is based on Federal Codes and they make it clear that assisting an ILLEGAL immigrant is a crime, even if your religion or personal convictions dictate otherwise.
(Remember, your situation was a bit different than most of these invaders we currently have. If you try to turn the USA into Mexico, by helping border violators, you're telling everyone in the USA that you do not respect OUR laws. You will be used as an example of why not to grant amnesty/naturalization to ILLEGAL immigrants in the future.) You were not granted this amnesty/naturalization to pave the way for lawbreakers. Piensa lo que te digo.

It appears that "Mexi_CAN Ameri_CAN" is stuck in the past. A past that he did NOT experience, a past that was hundreds of years ago. Perhaps he cannot discern the fact that U.S. Citizens who are alive TODAY are NOT the "same Americans that came here and took" the land from the Native Americans. Why does "Mexi_CAN Ameri_CAN" fail to see that TODAY'S ILLEGAL Immigrants are creating an environment where they are taking away from ALL U.S. Citizens and claiming racism as a defense to their trespassing.
How long has the war been waging between the Israelis people and their antagonists? Most of this issue appears to be property/land related. (I'm not in those countries, so I don't know for sure. That's what I gleam from the media and you can't always trust it.) In the 1990s, the Serbs and the Croatians had similar problems that escalated into a full blown war. I AM CERTAIN THAT MOST U.S. CITIZENS DO NOT WISH FOR OUR CURRENT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION PROBLEM TO ESCALATE TO THE SAME DEGREE. War is an atrocity that we hope to avoid, thus the need to enforce existing laws and the enactment of newer laws that protect U.S. Citizens from the INVASION that is more commonly referred to as ILLEGAL Immigration.
Our country is in a recession. Tensions are very high. When a U.S.Citizen is taught to respect the property of others and to work for what he/she needs, most of us attempt to do so. However, when we observe a plethora of individuals invading our country and siphoning off what we understand to belong to us, it is only rational that we are going to become angry at the INVADERS for doing so. This is particularly true when these same invaders have the audacity to act as if they have every right to do so. ( Expecting OUR lawyers to defend them while they prance around waving THEIR COUNTRY'S FLAG is an example in support of this claim.) It appears that "Mexi_CAN Ameri_CAN" can't see that these INVADERS are not any better than the pilgrims/settlers that he ridiculed in his response to "nativeamericanindian's" comments on this same subject.

I did read the whole article. So let me restate the facts...his family was here illegally (from the article) and they ultimately (after many years) went through the legal immigration process. How about the families that wait their turn in Mexico or respective home before coming here legally? The fact is this family was in violation of the law and the fact that they are now doing it right is an insult to every individual who follows the immigration laws of our country. If I robbed a bank 20 years ago and then return to the same bank to open an account today am I not still guilty of the robbery I commited? I doubt the law would look the other way because I am choosing to abide by the law now, even though I had some missteps many years ago.
And as a side note, why is a tattoo parlor being held out in this article as the hallmark of the entrepreneurial spirit of America? I'd much rather read an article about a gifted Indian engineer who comes to America legally to boost the brain trust.

Si me conocieras, nunca me hubieras dicho lo que escribiste en esta pagina. (Yes, I speak, read and write in Spanish too. Obviously, you haven't been paying attention very well.) You are wrong on all accounts! I was EXPECTING for an ILLEGAL immigration supporter to come up with the coconut analogy. I went on my own when I was about 15-years old. I studied hard in school. I did NOT have mommy and daddy around to give me hand-outs or co-sign for anything. I walked for miles to high school because I did not have a car because I was paying bills such as rent, food, clothing, etc., etc. I did not get anything for free. I walked or hitch-hiked to work more times than you can probably count. Eventually, that changed.
I have stressed numerous times to Spanish/Mexican/Cuban/Puerto Rican U.S. Citizens about the importance of NOT forgetting their ancestry and being able to speak in Spanish as well as English.
As a young Latino U.S. Citizen, I have been stopped by the police numerous times simply for walking down the street at night. I didn't appreciate it all, especially when I was simply walking to/from work or a friends house. I almost had to take a high school teacher to the school board for the obvious racism he was displaying towards me. Fortunately, I made my case clear to him and all of the students in the classroom that I was NOT going to tolerate his unprofessional behavior any further. It ceased immediately because I chose to deal with the issue correctly.
Question: What does a "white" person sound like? Does a professional control over the English language make someone sound "white"? Wow, if I didn't know better, I would say that you sound like an "Archie Bunker's Mexican Brother from Another Mother". Are all African-Americans supposed to like fried chicken and watermelon? Do all of them have the same speech patterns? Are they NOT allowed to be educated and speak proper English like this writer? Does having a tattoo make you an ex-convict or gang-banger? Of course not! However, if you DO have tattoos, ride around at all hours of the night, have a problem obeying rules and hang around with people with nicknames like "Creeper", "Little Gee" or Homie123, what do you think people are going to assume? I have been to Mexico and am clearly aware of the fact that NOT ALL Mexican Nationals are the same. They can't be. Unfortunately, what most of us see now is a horde of them flagrantly invading our country with little or no shame for what they are doing. This is causing a negative stereotype to flourish.
As for Andrick Aviles procurement of naturalization/permanent residency, I applaud him for making the right choice. It is sad that it took two decades to accomplish this task, but at least he did it. Perhaps if the writer of Andrik's article would have entitled the article, "How a FORMER Underage, Illegal Immigrant Became One of the Valley's Hottest Tattoo Artist", more people would have read the article in its entirety. Of course, all of us are responsible and accountable for own actions, myself included. If you would pay attention, you would notice that I do not attack Mr. Aviles directly. It is the practice of ILLEGAL Immigration that I am against. His situation was different from most border violators in that he was probably an infant when he arrived in the USA. He didn't have any control over his situation at the time. When he got older, he did something about it. Still, I can't help but feel that he might have just continued to live life as usual had the laws not changed to bring violators into compliance. I don't know. If it did, then the law is producing the desired effect. Remember, Arizona DID NOT pass an Anti-Mexican law. It passed an Anti-ILLEGAL Immigration law. It is not a crime to be Mexican, Bosnian, Chinese, Guatemalan, German, English or any other nationality. It IS however, a CRIME to physically be in this country without documented permission from this country's government. See, http://americanpatrol.com/REFERENCE/isacrime.html
Let's say you're a decent kid and your friends frequently go to the matinee/ theater on the weekend. You'd like to go too, but your family can't afford it. The guy that accepts the tickets has met you before and knows you're a decent kid. He lets you in for free a couple of times and hints for you to keep quite about it.
Question: Should you try to sneak your friends in along with you on your next visit? Remember, you were given a "break". You're not supposed to take advantage of the kindness offered to you. Not only might you ruin your chances to get in free in the future, you may get your friend fired in the process.
My point is that Andrik's situation is NOT typical. Most of the ILLEGAL trespassers we have in the USA today, are old enough and informed enough to be aware that their presence as well as employment is in violation of our country's laws. If Andrik Aviles chooses to assist other ILLEGAL Immigrants by way of his newly obtained "permission' to be here, he will branded as someone who took wrongful advantage of our government's kindness not to deport his family. I, for one, will be interested to see what developments transpire in his life after this novelty wears off.
It is clear to me that Andrick Aviles is a very skilled artist. I commend his talents. Personally, I would have hoped to see him working for Marvel Comics or DC Comics or anywhere else as an illustrator, not as a tattoo artist. Still, I would rather have him be a tattoo artist instead of being a drug dealer or panhandler on the street. There appear to be a few "men" who think they are defending Andrick Aviles by shooting off their mouths in response to U.S. Citizens like me who want our laws regarding immigration to be obeyed. These people are hurting Andrick more than helping him because we cannot help but wonder if these are his buddies or people who reflect his own personality and perspective, especially when he "clicks" on their comments in agreement with them.
By the way, I don't think that the laws need to be changed to make it easier for people to move here anymore than I think we need to lower the legal age to purchase alcohol to vote. Doing so would simply cause more problems than we already have.
Maybe ILLEGAL immigration will have at least ONE positive effect. Maybe it will help get Joe Arpaio out of office now that he's really under investigation by the Feds.

Tax evasion, criminal trespass, working without a proper health license, working without a sales tax license, not paying city and state sales taxes, not paying federal and state personal taxes and taking a proper citizens job out from under him/her when we are in a major recession. Oh yeah I forgot he's doing a job nobody wants to do picking lettuce, oh wait he's a tattoo artist, duh. Bloody liberals keep supporting this crap. Deport his sorry a$$ yesterday.

What's next? Serial rapist opens bakery? Meth lab owner teaches ballroom dancing? Why is an article featuring a criminal? And why is law enforcement not paying this guy a visit for deportation? At what point do our laws mean something?

This is just one more example of a person committing tax evasion!
What is so great about holding up people committing crimes, as good people?
If you know you are committing a crime and stop doing it then maybe there is some redemption, but to continue when you know it is one felony on top of another, only gives cause to the reason we need secure borders now!!
There is nothing honorable about this person, or any that think he is a victim of circumstance! The circumstance stopped when he became aware he was involved in criminal enterprises! :(

Stay in the shadows...you are not from the Valley. Been to Home Depot, Lowe's laely and not have illegals in your face. Illegals have more run, free access than any Angelo, who are you kidding. The Phnx, DPS , and one other than Sheriff have no nads. Gordon the worst of all.

Your quote was from the end of the FIRST PAGE of the article. here's from the last page of the article:
"After paying the fines, they submitted fingerprints and photos of themselves, and attended two interviews — one in March (for their work visas) and the one in May, for residency."
Maybe you need to go learn about counting?
-

You sound as if you are either his PR agent or his girlfriend. Either way, your bias is very apparent. We all get it, you are a saintly individual just trying to give the poor immigrant family a chance. Why is it that not all legal citizens of this country, regardless of race, are given the same indulgence?
-
05/24/2011 4:04:00 PM
Where does the article state that they are legal now?
"And after waiting 16 years for an interview with immigration officials, the family came up a few thousand dollars short of their required fines and fees earlier this year."
Maybe you need to go learn more on reading comprehension.
-
non-biased 05/24/2011 8:09:00 AM
Stupid New Times and their one-sided reporting. Sure, lets support an illegal immigrant, who's performing illegal tattooing in his house! You pointed out that it's a FELONY! An illegal committing a FELONY! Such one-sideness is so typical of the New Times. That's why I stopped picking up their publications.
-
KMM 05/24/2011 6:16:00 AM
If you bothered to finish reading the article, you'd see that he and his family are legal now.. problem solved. Don't you love happy endings?
-
KMM 05/24/2011 6:15:00 AM
Umm one minor fact... he's legal now. So where would he get deported to?
-
KMM 05/24/2011 6:15:00 AM
Why would he get deported? If you finished reading the article instead of firing off a comment, you'd see him and his family are legal now. I would say that you wasted the Sheriff's time with this, but I know (with $100 mil misspent) he's already wasting his time.
-
KMM 05/24/2011 6:13:00 AM
Finish reading... him and his family are legal now.

NOBODY 05/23/2011 11:43:00 PM
Please Note: I am an Hispanic U.S. Citizen and speak Spanish fluently.
My opinions are NOT racially based and are shared by MANY U.S. Citizens
from different backgrounds, but especially by other Hispanic U.S. Citizens.
You are welcome to disagree with me or anyone else on this subject. That is
one of the most fundamental rights that we are privileged to enjoy in this country.
However, if my opinions are flagged/removed simply because someone disagrees with
them, this is simply demonstrating an anti-U.S. American attitude towards free speech.
With freedoms or rights comes an inherent responsibility in the exercise of those
same freedoms or rights.

4-inches under the area reserved for Connect, Twitter, and Yahoo links,
you will see a small box with the words "Sort by" in front of it. Click the
drop-down arrow and choose "Best rating".)
Maybe I am wrong, but I believe that some of my opinions have been
flagged because some people didn't like how I have pointed out additional
reasons (not related to the economy), why U.S. Citizens are getting
sick and tired of the overwhelming amount of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
who are trespassing in this country.
NO I AM NOT WRITING THESE OPINIONS FOR NOTORIETY. I believe
in what I write and hope other U.S. Citizens will stop complaining
and actually do something about this problem that is plaguing our country.
Personally, I think Joe Arpaio has a few screws loose, but that doesn't change anything. He didn't write the laws. He's not smart enough to nor does he have the authority to do so. The legislative and executive branches of our government have that honor. As for amnesty, do your research. It did not work back in 1986-1988 and it won't work now. As a matter of fact, that helped to contribute to our current dilemma/crisis with this very issue. The infants of all of those illegal immigrants/border violators are now in their mid to late twenties and are the main proponents of amnesty today. Many of them feel that they "owe it to their people" to support amnesty because our government felt sorry for their parents and they "wouldn't be here without it".
Let's say you have three children. One of them is a rebellious daughter who, despite what she has been taught, hangs around with bad company and gets pregnant outside of wedlock. Not a big deal huh? Hold on a minute! She is very out-spoken (she has a big-mouth), that often gets her into trouble. Therefore, she does not maintain gainful employment or a meaningful relationship for very long periods of time. She calls you on the phone and asks if she can move in (AGAIN), because she's single and lost another job so she can't pay her rent. This is her 3rd time in the last four years to do this.
Should you help her? I guess that depends on our definition of "help". Apparently, she didn't learn anything the 1st or 2nd time around. No, you are probably hurting her more by letting her move in again. She needs to learn to keep her mouth shut so she won't keeping losing her jobs. If not that, then she needs to get rid of her attitude so that a decent man can help her raise her children. She needs to learn to support her OWN CHILDREN she gave birth to. We all make mistakes, but other people shouldn't pay for the ones that you and I make. The same things goes for her mistakes. Letting her move in a 3rd time will probably prove to be counter-productive as her problems will now become your problems. You are only enabling her bad behavior if you let her move in a 3rd time.
What's the connection here? Simple. Allowing a host of illegal immigrants to move into the USA all once does not solve Mexico's economical or crime problems. It only moves the problems to the U.S. and thereby encourages Mexico to keep on doing as it pleases. Turning Mexico into the 51st State of the U.S. is a horrible idea. Unfortunately, that is where we are heading unless we stop it now. SAY NO TO AMNESTY! SAY NO MORE ILLEGAL TRESPASSERS! SAY NO to artificially moving the U.S.-Mexican Border a thousand miles North of where it currently exist by allowing illegal immigrants to remain in the USA without punishment for flagrantly invading our country.
Mexico has its own strict immigration laws to keep those from South America from pouring in.
The Mexican government understands what a burden illegal immigration places on its own
economy as well as the increase in crime it brings. See, http://puttroopsontheborder.com/
REMEMBER:
IF YOU CROSS THE NORTH KOREAN BORDER ILLEGALLY,
YOU GET 12 YEARS HARD LABOR.
IF YOU CROSS THE IRANIAN BORDER ILLEGALLY,
YOU ARE DETAINED INDEFINITELY.
IF YOU CROSS THE AFGHAN BORDER ILLEGALLY,
YOU GET SHOT.
IF YOU CROSS THE SAUDI ARABIAN BORDER ILLEGALLY,
YOU WILL BE JAILED.
IF YOU CROSS THE CHINESE BORDER ILLEGALLY,
YOU MAY NEVER BE HEARD FROM AGAIN.
IF YOU CROSS THE VENEZUELAN BORDER ILLEGALLY,
YOU WILL BE BRANDED A SPY AND YOUR FATE WILL BE SEALED.
IF YOU CROSS THE CUBAN BORDER ILLEGALLY,
YOU WILL BE THROWN INTO POLITICAL PRISON TO ROT.
I'M NOT SAYING WE SHOULD SHOOT EVERYBODY
THAT IS HERE ILLEGALLY, BUT I AM SAYING THAT:
IF YOU CROSS THE U.S. BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU SHOULD NOT GET:
A JOB, A DRIVERS LICENSE, A SOCIAL SECURITY CARD, WELFARE,
FOOD STAMPS, CREDIT CARDS, FREE EDUCATION, FREE HEALTH CARE,
A LOBBYIST IN WASHINGTON, BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF PUBLIC
DOCUMENTS PRINTED IN YOUR LANGUAGE, THE RIGHT TO CARRY YOUR
COUNTRY'S FLAG WHILE YOU PROTEST THAT YOU DON'T GET ENOUGH
RESPECT, NOR THE RIGHT TO VOTE!
I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE A FIRM GRASP ON THE SITUATION !!!
PLEASE KEEP !!! THIS GOING......FORWARD TO ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY
IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP AMERICA !!!!!!!!!!!!
Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code,

This is exactly why we had 225 years of American civilization to fight against. --Snake oil sellers, under the table dealings, the mob, and generally people getting by doing sub-standard work and not paying taxes! --Why is this an example of the kind of riff-raff we want in the US of A??

so he's here illegally, doesn't pay taxes I'm guessing because he was paid under the table, operates an illegal business...and this is supposed to be inspiring------thanks to the guy or gal who sent a link to sheriffs department------ICE needs to be notified too-------illegal is illegal---I could care less how talented he's supposed to be --break the law-go to jail--come here illegally, get deported

My husband and I are trying to get residency-citizenship in a country in the Southern Hemisphere. The process will take years for us because it has specific needs and every immigrant accepted must be proven to be useful to the society and economy. They no longer allow anchor babies and take illegal extended stay very seriously, possibly forbidding you to ever return...they have a good economy, good employment and wonderful way of life. They also are pretty liberal in many aspects...
and yet, liberals in our own country cannot grasp common sense to save their lives. They want everything for anyone they feel sorry for without concerning themselves with balance and consequences, and can't even get us out of the wars they've been crying about for a decade. Republicans are not much better either and are worse in some ways, but they are at least willing to take a stand on some things. Good luck with that.

Adios amigo !

Good eye mate! Seems the esteem of money makes further looting permissable. Why doesn't Arizona hold Pima county sherriff Paul BaBau in as high esteem. Why if he was Guvnor or Senator we would see more than Joey Arpihole attempting to play deaf ,blind and dumb over his two right hand men, now fired, and a missing $100,000,000.
-
Twisted 05/23/2011 5:03:00 PM
His ass should be deported. It's bad enough he's here illeagally, but now he also admits he's doing a job illeagally. Come on now. He also states he has a hard time carding people , which probably means he's tattooing under-age kids. He claims he loves tattooing, but he obviously has no ethics. He is one of the main problems.
-

Probably out looking for illegals, which this guy isn't.
-
Marcy 05/23/2011 12:02:00 AM
What sort of taxes isn't he paying? Sales taxes? None on professional services, he pays sales tax on the money he spends.
Income taxes? Probably doesn't have enough income to pay income taxes, just like almost 1/2 of Americans who don't pay a dime of federal income taxes.
But now that he has his papers he can get a Social Security number and start paying what he couldn't pay before. Of course he didn't earn any Social Security benefits from his under the table work so that's probably a wash as well.
-
Marcy 05/23/2011 12:00:00 AM
You don't get AIDS from someone sticking YOUR arm with a clean needle honey.
You whine a lot about "illegals" but when one becomes a LEGAL US resident you just keep on whining. Makes me think it has nothing to do with "illegal" and everything to do with where someone is from.
-
Marcy 05/22/2011 11:57:00 PM
His ass is here legally, what's with all you immigrant haters who can't read?
-
Marcy 05/22/2011 11:56:00 PM
What would the charge be?
Being in the country LEGALLY isn't a crime honey. If being stupid was a crime, you'd be doing hard time.

He's not here illegally.
Any other questions?
-
Marcy 05/22/2011 11:55:00 PM
I read it again:
"Now that they're finally legal, everyone in the family's making plans."
Did you realize the article had 6 pages?
If being a moron was a deportable offense you'd be on the next bus out of here.
-
Marcy 05/22/2011 11:52:00 PM
Why would they deport someone who is legally in this country?
-
Marcy 05/22/2011 11:51:00 PM
Your tax dollars obviously aren't going towards your education Juanello as he's here LEGALLY.
Try and English class for starters. Your local community college can get you started.

The generosity of Americans has been taken advantage of in the last decades, since the seventies. In growing and accelerating numbers the immigrants keep coming. They used to be only from Mexico but now all of Central America wants to get here desperately. Argentineans, who are considered by their Latin America counterparts as pretentious and vain, are coming now here by the thousands after their economic system collapsed years ago. I never imagined in the eighties that I would live to see Argentineans living in Mesa, Chandler, Glendale. I could have thought that some of them might emigrate to Miami, but not to every single corner of the Heartland and the Southwest. And they brought with them their bad temper (LOL). I came here legally. In the eighties my family was on line for hours, days, at the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana for interview and review of all of our U.S.Permanent Residency applications. And they were approved. I had it easy. I came here thru the front door, young and restless. Back then there was not a wave of hate sweeping across America. I felt the welcoming of all Anglos and saw the sincerity and kindness of their hearts when they dealt with me at school or at work. But that kindness is mostly gone by now. And I understand why. The masive exodus to America continues unstopable. I would not express these feelings to my Latino friends because I would be friendless by now. But I agree with those that demand a stop to the exodus, a stop to the invasion. There is no more room for so many undocumented aliens coming in hordes every day. There are not enough jobs. There are not enough resources at local schools. They are suffocating us. It's a burden for which Americans were not prepared to deal with. Those that made it thru bought houses on alternative credit during the real estate frenzy and lost them during the recession. Thousands and thousands of Americans live on apartments packed like sardines with their little children with no gardens to play. Meanwhile undocumented aliens from Mexico and all Central and South America invaded the West side of the Valley buying houses they were not able to afford. Of course Americans are going to be resentful. Of course they are going to be skeptical. It's just not fair. This is THEIR country (I am a U.S. Citizen by naturalization but I don't like to include myself as American to avoid being classified as racist). I saw years ago a TV documentary on PBS about an elder couple in some state in the heartland that had to sell their ranch and move to an apartment because they were not able to pay taxes, the IRS took it all, cows and everything. Tears came down my face watching such injustice. How is it possible that foreigners arrive here illegally and demand as their universal right to have a home, a new car, a job, healthcare, education for their children and welfare? And to top it all off they march by the millions every year holding signs demanding amnesty under the flamboyant name of "immigration reform". The generosity of Americans has been stretched to the maximum. Some might tell me "well, you got it easy, that's why you are on their side even if you are HIspanic". That's true. But that doesn't blind me from understanding their hate and their pain. Yes, there is PAIN involved in their hate. That's why they cling to the fine line of legality when demanding deportation of undocumented people. That makes them more humans. Clinging to the fact that all they want is the respect of the law makes them feel less hateful, less inhumane. The late Israel Prime Minister Golda Meir once immortalized the phrase "We will never forgive the Palestinians for making us kill them". On the same hand, Americans might never forgive the illegal alliens for making them hate them. But in favor of the illegal alliens, it was the same Golda Meir who once said " I am so grateful that I live in a country whose people have learned how to go on living in a sea of hatred without hating those who want to destroy them and without abandoning their own vision of peace. To have learned this is a great art, the prescription for which is not written down anywhere in the world. It is part of our way of life now". God bless America.

Cut off his thumbs and sell his tools and equiptment to pay all the taxs he has not paid and then deport his illegal ass. I was a pro [shop trained] tattooist for 28 years until any and every jerk-off with a few bucks could get a small kit and become an instant tattoo artist. KellyRebecca 05/21/2011 8:00:00 PM
Let me preface by saying that this comment has NOTHING to do with his status a US citizen. I could care less.
That said, what he is doing is DANGEROUS! I work at a very well known tattoo shop in the valley, and therefore am required to take the Blood Born Pathogen training by OSHA once every year. There are a million reasons tattooing out of your home is ILLEGAL. Even if he changes needles, and gloves, and only uses disposable tubes, that DOES NOT make him a clean tattoo artist. You can see from the pictures taken, that he uses a cloth covered chair, which is considered a porous surface. Meaning that if even a single drop of blood containing hepatitis, or other communicable diseases is on that chair, it can live and spread to other people, as he has no way to clean a chair like that. This among many other violations of health and safety regulations, that are put in place to protect people, are simply inexcusable, and clearly shows that he is unaware of the harm he could be doing to his clients.
I must warn those of you go to him for business that you are putting yourself at personal risk. Some diseases can lay dormant for up to 25 years before showing on tests! You simply can't take someone else's word as truth.
The Phoenix New Times has NO business publishing an article that promotes unsafe, unhealthy, and ILLEGAL practices. I am shocked at the lack of respect the author has for his influence as a journalist. Promoting an artist such as Aviles not only encourages him, and the people to go to him for tattoos; it encourages tattooers (whom we know in the industry as "scratchers") who operate out of their home how are even less careful, and tells people that it is okay to be tattooed by them. It is exactly these kind of people that we as professionals spend our career fighting to stop.
I wish the best of luck to Aviles, but sincerely hope that his recent publicity brings to his attention the error of his ways. I hope that he starts practicing safe tattooing. If he were to become an OSHA certified artist he could become an excellent spokesperson for the hazards of tattooing at home.
