College is usually a time for kids to go against the grain and rebel by getting a purple mohawk, or skip studying for an exam in favor of testing their drinking endurance skills. The show features pieces by wood art program alumni and grad students including Jessie Herndon, Andrew Hadle, and Tania Radda. Damon McIntyre’s Tea for Two is a whimsical, undulating dining set that resembles something out of the musical Beauty and the Beast, while Radda’s contribution pays tribute to the natural environment from which her material originates. “Growing up in Brazil, I experienced up close the fascinating aspects of nature,” Radda writes in her artist’s statement, “and today I find that by sculpting these pieces, I can continue to explore and study these wonderful life forms.”
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 5. Continues through May 29, 2011
