Big Bang

Punk rock is largely considered to be a big city phenomenon, born out of such urban wastelands as New York, Los Angeles, and Detroit. So when a band like the fearsome Oklahoma foursome The Boom Bang rise from the utter hickdom of the Sooner State, it’s a bit unexpected.

Tackling political issues with humor and chutzpah, the group creates clamorously upbeat punk that’s packed with surf hooks and garage rock-style distortion. While Dead Kennedys had “Holiday in Cambodia,” The Boom Bang has “Vietnomnomnom,” an infectious track from their latest album, World War Fun. And fun it is, as the band’s sound (described as “what happens when you’ve listened to Andrew W.K. since 2001”) is catchy as hell.

Utter hickdom? hahahaha. Come to OKC sometime. You have no idea what you're talking about.

By the way, there are more punk bands not from LA, NYC, etc, than vice versa, silly.

Also, the Boom Bang are way more garage rock than punk.

So there :)
