The Arizona Derby Dames are as comfortable with breaking ground as they are with breaking noses. Last year, the local league debuted the first modern banked track in the Valley. This year, they’re following that accomplishment up by hosting Phoenix’s first ever Battle on the Bank.

Starting Friday, June 10, and running throughout the weekend, the Battle on the Bank IV all-star roller derby event pits teams from nine cities against each other for a double elimination tournament inside Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1826 West McDowell Road. The two-time champion San Diego Derby Dolls are looking for a threepeat, but the local Derby Dames squad have history on their side as two of the first three host teams have gone on to win the whole damn thing.
